Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 The name is very familiar to me. But, I cannot place it right now. I think I went to college with him. But, I am still attempting to put it together. Quote Gregory

Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 His "AMD" degree must mean Alternative Medicine Doctor. [Wonder what school grants such a degree as that...?] And the redesigned covers of the Conflict of the Ages series date back to the early 1970s... so he must be getting pretty old by now. Nicodema Posted December 29, 2005 Posted December 29, 2005 Hmmm ... too late right now to listen to this. Maybe some other time. Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 Oh, yes. Now I remember him. I did go to college with him. He is an artist, with expertese in severl different media. As a Senior he did a modern sculpture of the famour "thinker" that was placed by one of the men's dorms. But, at PUC, he is best known for another Senior project. He was involved in a midnight raid on one of the women's dorms, that resulted in a major article in the San Francisco Chronicle which began: "Seventh-day Adventists do not drink coffee, or attend movies, but they do have their fun. . .." That "project" delayed his entry to the LS teaching faculty by a year. Oh, yes. Thank you Lord, that I did not know about that raid ahead of time. I would have been involved if I had known. Quote Gregory
Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 Was that the days of the famous "panty raids"? Such things happened at secular colleges, I recall. Didn't know about its happening at PUC. (Of course, I wasn't there!) Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
Moderators Gerr Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 He looks like the Herschel Hughes I met in PUC in the late 50's. My recollection of him is that he was an art major. Gerry Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 If you went to college with him Greg, then if you dig out the old yearbook (which I don't have), we might even have crossed paths at PUC! Gerry Quote
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 H. Hughes graduated from PUC in, about, 1962. I do not remember exactly. I attended PUC from 1958 - 1963. Quote Gregory

Moderators Gerr Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 I was there '56-'59. We may very well know each other then. Gerry Quote
Moderators Gerr Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 You wouldn't say that if you saw me, Clio. You'd probably use such terms as, "ancient of days" instead! Gerry Quote
Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 Bertie Fritz? I will have to check. It does not sound familiar. Quote Gregory

Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 I listened to it. The first part, and most of the talk, is an inspiring talk in which HH gives his spiritual journey. Then in the last part, and a very small part, HH gives some statements of warning to the SDA Chruch. As these are supposed to be the words of God, HH gives them without any comment, he simply delivers them as he says God delivered them to him. Those staements are a number of statements in which the SDA Chruch is said to have departed from God's true teaching. Then we are told that if we do not return the SDA Chuch will be the focus of God's wrath during the soon comming time of trouble. That is it, folks, in a nutshell. By the way, he states that he did NOT share his message with the pastor of the SDA Church that allowed him to speak to the congregation, and that the pastor did not know what he was going to say. Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted December 29, 2005 Moderators Posted December 29, 2005 You are gracious, Amelia. Yes, I am getting up in years. This month, I became eligible for Medicare, and I had to sign up for that in order to keep my military medical coverage. This Summer I will begin recieveing Social Security. But, I will continue to keep comming to work every day. I have a son, a Senior in HS, who will begin college this comming year. He is a good student, his GPE for the first Semester which just finished was 3.9903 He does that while working at a job that pays about half of his school tutition. Peace to all. Quote Gregory
Stan Posted December 29, 2005 Author Posted December 29, 2005 HUGES does this.... talked in one part how great the conflict is, trys to win your confidence and then later talks about a certain false prophet etc etc Ford is good at this, if you listen to him, so often when he makes the audience laugh he then make a strong statement on whatever, when they are coming 'down' off of the laugh. It seems to me his first Phd was in speech. If anyone knows and understands the power of persuasion it is him. I hear theologians and preachers do that way too often. Some clearly think it is their Christian duty and obligation to do so, and it is a learned skill of the intelligencia to do so. Christ never did, or there is not recorded, he did not have to use 'tricks'. I do not think he would do that today either. Stan Posted December 30, 2005 Author Posted December 30, 2005 He is like several I know, did not seek out truth for himself, and listened to others, then realized he had a worthless christian experience and blamed it on the church.
