I remember the days when I had to drive to work and I am glad that is all in the past.

Often my current drives "to work" involve hoping my GPS will retain a signal.  Additionally I say  many "please God" prayers  

Sometimes I listen to music but most often I simply enjoy the silence and observe the scenery.

I am in a carpool; so I usually visit with my riding mates or we listen to music - sometimes CD's, sometimes hristian radio, sometimes country and western, sometimes rock. That being said, I spend over 3 hours a day commuting. I can hardly wait to walk a mile (or 100 miles) in Gragory's shoes. 2.5 years to go!

Having only a 2-block walk to work, I just enjoy the exercise, fresh air, and scenery, and let my mind wander. Sometime I have a thought and jot it down. I really should be memorizing blocks of scripture that are important to me.

When I had to commute an hour both ways, I would make up stories, I would have a whole cast of characters and situations. Sometimes they were so good, that later I would try and find the "book" that a story was in only to remember that I had made that one up.

Used to drive my kids to school a half hour from home...it meant at least an hour with them alone in the car. Great time for bonding with one another and keeping up with their lives. I miss that part of the commute. On the hour I was alone without them in the car everyday I listened to the radio and got "caught up" on the local news, weather and trending topics. Sometimes I would pray, sometimes sing, sometimes cry, sometimes shout out my frustrations. Nothing quite like being alone in the car! In 5 years I logged over 150,000 miles of "drive time". Now those days are over and I find it difficult to get that uninterrupted time alone.

I walk to work whenever I can. It's about 3.5 km, or about 2 miles, and takes me about half an hour. I could take my motorbike, but by the time I gear up, ride and park and gear down, that probably takes 15 minutes anyway. I do tend to go the long way, though, so the walk in to work can vary from 2 miles to more than 8. I might try taking a photo this morning to share where I walk.

I sometimes work at another campus an hour's drive away, and on those days I take the motorbike.

Either way I tend to listen to music or podcasts - some comedy, some science, some politics. Sometimes I do walk with 'naked ears' and listen to the world around me, but I spend at least 10 hours a week walking and 2 or 4 or 6 riding (depending on how often I have to go to the other campus), so I like to keep my mind occupied.

​Me too! I taught at a school where one of my daughters was a student as a 4 and 5 year old and definitely enjoyed hanging out with her on the way to and from school. She's 21 and a lawyer now... but we still love to hang out.
