Gus Foster Posted December 30, 2005 Posted December 30, 2005 Ellen White wrote in 'Testimonies To Ministers', page 92: "All power is given into His (Jesus') hands, that he may dispense rich gifts unto men, imparting the priceless gift of His own righteousness to the helpless human agent. This is the message that God commanded to be given to the world. It is the third angel's message, which is to be proclaimed with a loud voice, and attended with the outpouring of His Spirit in large measure." In studying the Rev 2 & 3 churches (His earthly temple) that Jesus shared with John some 60 years after His coronation from His heavenly temple (Rev 5), and some 20 years after the the destruction of Herod's Temple, we see that the solution for each church's condition was Jesus imparting His attributes (Rev 1:12-18), His character, into that church, His people, and through the entire (sevenfold) church age. It is breathtaking that He shares His Gethsemane and Golgotha experince with us, that of completely surrendering and giving up of self. Jesus offers us His throne, His Father, His love, His supper, and His life. Ephesus: 'words of Him who holds the seven stars in His right hand and walks among the seven golden candlesticks' Smyrna: 'words of Him who is the Alpha and Omega (first and last), who died and came to life again' Pergamum: 'words of Him who has the sharpe, double-edged sword' (gospel separates, from self, unto Christ) Thyatira: 'words of the Son of God, whose eyes are like blazing fire and whose feet are like burnished bronze' Sardis: 'words of Him who holds the seven spirits' of God and the seven stars' Philadelphia: 'words of Him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David--He shuts and opens' Laodicea: 'words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God's creation' (crowned in Rev 5) We should dwell on every 'word'! Later in TM page 456, Ellen White pens, "What is justification by faith? It is the work of God in laying the glory of man in the dust, and doing for man that which is not in his power to do for himself". We can't save ourselves, past present or future; neither can we save ourselves from sinning. But the Giver of the word can, and we can receive His character, His attributes, found in Rev 1:12-18 & 14:6-12. In essence, being called out of Babylon is being called out of self. In His coronation, Jesus accepts the scroll, which is the alpha and omega of everyone's life. We either let Him be in control, or we indulge in self. Justification and sanctification come in one package; they cannot be separated, for both are anemic without the other. Choose wisely. Gus Foster Quote Striving for a better relationship with Him!
