Trivia question. Will Stan give points for a correct answer?

I have eaten breakfast, while looking out my window at the Pacific Ocean. On the same day, I have looked out my window at the Atlantic Ocean, while eating my lunch.

Where was I?

Clues:

1) I did not fly in an airplane between those two locations.

2) In that same country, there was a place where I could watch the sun rise over the Pacific Ocean, in the morning.

You were on one of the islands off the south-western coast of Chile.

Panama. From Panama City, the sun rises over the Pacific. After eating breakfast there, you can take the train across the continent, and ariive easily in time for lunch. I've made the trip, on that train. It was about a 2 hour trip. It's not that far, but the train makes multiple stops.

At first I thought Panama as well..then, I realized that one cannot see the Atlantic from Panama--one can only see the Carribean Sea when looking toward the Atlantic.

Gettting beyond the quibble over the Atlantic, vs. the Carribean, Panama was the answer that I had intended.

Yes, I have driven from one side to the other in 2 hours many times. It is a 50 mile drive, but takes 2 hours to drive.

And, I have traveled from the Atlantic to the Pacific, across the country of Panama, by boat--a U. S. Destroyer, no less.

I was stationed in the jungle in Panama right on the Atlantic. I went swimming in the Pacific once when I was there on a 3-day leave and counted a dozen ships waiting to enter the canal.

Quibble? I thought this was trivia! Doesn't all trivia involve some sort of quibble?

Between Australia and New Zealand lies the Tasman Sea, which is part of the Pacific Ocean. So if you were part way from Wellington to Sydney (escaping?) it would be correct to say "I am on the Pacific Ocean" and equally correct to say "I am on the Tasman Sea."

So perhaps the Caribbean Sea is part of the Atlantic Ocean (in mathematical terms, a subset).

I don't know if this is in fact the case but it is a feasible idea.
