The US system where there are presidential elections every 4 years and now almost a full 2 years of each term is taken up with campaigning just seems bizarre to us. Partly because he's certain to make some telling gaffe, partly because stronger candidates will emerge and partly just because the media have a short attention span. Aliensanctuary Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 Agreed. Ben Carson is not a politician with political connections, and at least at this time, he's still a neophyte. Too bad so much money is spent, "wasted", rather, on US campaigns for elected offices. Many millions of dollars are spent for an office that pays far less than what many CEOs of large corporations receive in salaries. Seems ridiculous that so many Republicans are running for president. They should get together and decide which 2 or 3 might actually have a shot at winning, then everyone else drop out and support the potential winners. As it is now, the bottom 8 candidates should wear clown suits so voters can at least know that they are not serious contenders. I saw Carly Fiorina interviewed and thought that, as a non-politician and former CEO, she may very well make a savvy, BS-cutting president. She has met and dealt with many heads of state, not as a politician, but as a deal-making businesswoman. Too bad that in order to become a politician one must develop the art of lying in order to convince the voters that the politician supports their viewpoints. No matter who wins the election in 2016, though, if held at all, there may be unseen others who tell our presidents what to say and do, so whoever is elected may not have a whole lot of control over the nation's destiny. I have a feeling that once again, it's going to be selecting who I think is the best - and akin to choosing which juvenile delinquent would be best at leading a gang... But when that which is perfect is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.] ): It is interesting how things look to different people today. Things that grasp the attention of some today are forgotten tomorrow. When the Supreme Court declares America independent from God, the candidate ratings above will get shuffled around. When God reacts to America's rebellion by removing His protection from US, the candidates on this list will have their ratings shuffled yet again. And then when Iran attacks America's fleet in the Gulf, the shocked country that focused so much interest on the bedroom and so little interest on doing the right thing, will have another wild political swing. It would not surprise me if this list got stood on its head in a month or less. For now, I'll put this thread on my watch list, sit on the sidelines and remain silent. Until some epic event like the #IranUSwar reshuffles the mix. After the time of proactive preventive maintenance is past, I will see how the reactionary knee jerk reflexes come into play.
