It seems important to me that when speaking of Christ's life and sacrifices for us that the Christian be direct and perfectly clear. That is not a popular course of action if a conservative takes it. Satire can be misunderstood, causing some to load their weapons and start firing away. Poking fun at the peculiarities of a denomination, while entertaining for some, upsets others. That is what I get from other Adventists when I mention it to them. E.G> ME talking about "Wham" is me laughing at me eating it. It is O.K. to laugh at yourself. Healthy people can do that. If someone disagrees with a certain liberal politician around here what names are they called, and by whom? Does the term racist ring a bell? Who is it that makes the accusation? These things fall into clear lines, or sides if you will. Does the idea that anyone who disagrees with a certain politician must be full of hate ring a bell? Are there clear sides to this? The the lines of agreement/disagreement pretty sharply drawn and people tend to be on side or the other pretty much all the time. True or False? I see it that way quite clearly. Jokes that make others look like knuckleheads and dimwits aren't my cuppa tea... but other types are okay... one evening at the hospital, one of the radiologists and I "salted" the schedule board with phony patients for exams for the next day. We thought it was hysterically funny! We included "Mammy Ogram" for a breast MRI, and "Ida Gottago" for a barium enema. I left the next morning at 7AM, but the radiologist told me later that he got into a peck of trouble that day because of our prank....but that it'd been worth it!
