I do participate in some non-religous forums where gays also participate and also note the language used in literature posted on other websites. I have yet to see where a lesbian referred to her partner as a "husband" or a gay man refer to his partner as a "wife." Gay men refer to their partners as "husbands" and I have seen lesbians refer to their partners as "wife."

I have seen what I mentioned in interviews.

my female cousin refers to her spouse as her "wife," and vice versa... my cousin took the surname of her partner when they married... not sure what their rationale was, but perhaps the fact that my cousin had never been married previously, nor in any sort of relationship, whereas her partner had been married to a male, and had children — but her divorce happened long before she and my cousin ever met..
