I recognized his name as a judge involved in the controversy over the 10 commandments in the state of Alabama. He has quite a colorful history and is a Baptist. I say this as someone who is Christan, a Pastor and against gay marriage. As someone who may one day experience "pressure" to perform a gay marriage I in no way feel persecuted. Justice Moore's comments deserve ridicule. Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. A fine of over $100,000 and a personal economic catastrophe for not making a cake?! That is just the beginning. These are the same people who bake cakes for unrepentant fornicators and serial adulterers without reservation and offer the service with a smile. So called conservatives make a mockery of marriage with their numerous affairs and divorces. Donald Trump thinks his three "traditional" marriages are not as deserving of hell fire as much as one gay one. I have said to anti-gay marriage campaigners who have contacted me to get involved in their work, my struggle as a pastor is with the heterosexual marriages in my community. Christians need to calm down. In a few years all the talk will be about all the gay divorces taking place. bonnie Posted June 29, 2015 Posted June 29, 2015 (edited) So many say this. Who has been asked to participate in celebrating a divorce? Have you heard of a photographer spending the day following a divorcing couple thru the divorce proceedings and providing a filmed record of it for celebration. Not one bakery has refused to sell to a gay, fornicator or divorced person. They have refused to participate in celebrating something they see as morally wrong. Donald Trump is hardly someone to base your own religious convictions or have his view of his lifestyle influence how those that feel strongly about providing for a gay wedding conduct their business Edited June 29, 2015 by bonnie Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Christians need to calm down. In a few years all the talk will be about all the gay divorces taking place. AGAIN, you cannot use the sins of another to justify your own sin. And baking cakes for fornicators, you strain the extreme limits of credibility! No one I have ever heard of has bought a cake to celebrate their night of fornication and stepping out on their spouses. Since we are past the days of wearing scarlet "A"s, how is a store owner supposed to know someone is and adulterer. If someone comes in and requests something that is upfront something they cannot abide with, they have the right not to participate. I also would bet that these same bakers have many times baked cakes for gay people without comment and with a smile on their face and who knows when they were last doing ... hum, never mind! As far as Donald Trump, since he is a guy, obviously he is at fault! You have no idea what went on in his relationships and who was at fault. And it is unfortunate that you chose to use him as your "whipping boy" for your point. Great job, pastor! I believe two bakeries that were or are being served regularly sold to the gay customers that turned around and sued them for refusing the wedding cake. CoAspen Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 One thing we can say about all of this constant focus on the 'sins' of others....hopefully no one is looking at ours......fat chance!!!! Naomi 1 Quote
Moderators lazarus Posted June 30, 2015 Moderators Posted June 30, 2015 AGAIN, you cannot use the sins of another to justify your own sin. ??? Who is doing that? You mentioned conscience. What is this conscience based on? Is it based on the Bible? If it is then they should be bothered by all the sins that relate to what the Bible says about marriage. And baking cakes for fornicators, you strain the extreme limits of credibility! Most people would consider that extreme because sex before marriage is generally accepted in 2015. 60 years ago it would have been an issue. You illustrate my point. As far as Donald Trump, since he is a guy, obviously he is at fault! You have no idea what went on in his relationships and who was at fault. And it is unfortunate that you chose to use him as your "whipping boy" for your point. Great job, pastor! He's says he's at fault !!!! You're defending the indefensible. Whipping boy? He's a great example of the hypocrisy that has infested a particular section of "values voters" and apparently he's doing well in New Hampshire. He seems to resonate. phkrause 1 Quote Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities.
