One interpretation is that Christ could have come in this time period, but didn't (for example, because of a lack of cooperation). As I recall, around 1903 or 1904 she wrote that Christ was bitterly disappointed that His coming didn't happen. i quoted this not because this actual post, but what is being discussed. God knows the past present and the future, i have no problem with Christ being disappointed (how many times are we disappointed with our children) although bitterly disappointed does suggest he didn't know ???? i have not come across this in her writings - i think i am beginning to understand the accusers and why their saying it. (not that i hold much stock in it though - until i look into it properly - people will grab hold of anything when they want to accuse. Quote

In this day and age, and notably on this website, there are too few who can agree on anything, but during the Last Days that Christ spoke about there will be unity among his followers. There's a thread which discusses different ways the future can be viewed. The traditional way is as if the future were like the past, but just hasn't happened yet. For example, you could think of it as a movie which hasn't played yet, and if you had special powers (e.g., like God), you could see what the rest of the movie will be. Another view is that there isn't such a movie; the future doesn't exist yet. God, being omniscient, can see all the possibilities, but until choices are made, the future remains only possibilities, which is how God sees it. I don't want to overtake this thread, especially as there is another thread devoted to this topic, but did want to point out that there are different ways of looking at this, and there is evidence both in Scripture and the Spirit of Prophecy to support the idea that the future is not fixed. To mention two quick examples, Ellen White many times writes that "Christ could have come 'ere now". Now if the future were fixed, and God knew it wasn't possible, then what she wrote can't really be true. Another example is she speaks of God having sent His Son at the risk of failure and eternal loss. Risk means uncertainty. Quote Christ exalted the character of God, attributing to him the praise, and giving to him the credit, of the whole purpose of his own mission on earth,--to set men right through the revelation of God.

Too many ascribe "God says so" to qualify their statements/opinions when in fact it is usually revealed in the future they didn't know what they were talking about. Isn't that the Laodicean message paraphrased? You think more highly of your-self than you should. You had better mend her ways before Jesus gets sick of it.
