Dr. Shane Posted January 3, 2006 Posted January 3, 2006 Did anyone else watch the Rose Day Parade? My family and I gathered around the TV this morning and watched it on H&G TV which we get through SkyAngel. It was raining very hard during most of the parade. The foam that holds a lot of the flowers filled up with water and got so heavy, some of the floats had to be towed by trucks. But it was nice to see the rain didn't dampen their spirits. I watched the Rose Parade yesterday via two different channels - HGTV and a local feed of a Los Angeles station that covers the parade without commercials. It is a New Year's Day tradition for me! My family lived in Southern California for 21 years and we went to the parade often. We even stayed up all night on the street curb to get a good seat for the parade! Once was enough for me for that stunt! But the parade was well worth it! I hope noone gets sick because of being in the rain and wind for so long!!! 5 1/2 miles is a long way to walk in that wet stuff! The one station I watched had an immediate encore showing of the parade so it gave me a chance to tape it. I'm very thankful that someone had the foresight to buy all those ponchos for everyone!!! Even the Grand Marshal (Sandra Day O'Connor) was bundled up in one! One band from Pleasanton, California probably thought they were going to escape the heavy rains here in Northern California by being in the Rose Parade!!! Ooops! Didn't work! IMHO The Rose Parade is the most beautiful parade I've ever seen, even in the rain! Portland's Rose Festival parade may be prettier, but I haven't seen it yet!! Stan Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 I had a friend who produced the ABC show of this, (maybe CBS) and they would all dub in a blue sku, when the sky was gray.. I was in Glendale (next door to Pasedena) and they sky was gray, and I remember thinking... wow just a few miles way and everything is blue and clear...
