JoeMo Posted July 11, 2015 Posted July 11, 2015 We had a wonderfully balanced message at church today that drew a line between loving LGBTQ's while exhorting them to abstain from gay sexual contact. He emphasized that there we all have issues; and that we all need grace to deal with those issues. Nonetheless, the church cannot celebrate sexual sin (gay or straight) any more than it can support idolatry, theft, or murder. The gays in our congregation had no problem with the message. They were saying "Amen" as much as the druggies, boozers, and saints. We can genuinely love people without celebrating their issues. We can, however, celebrate everyone's intimate trust in and love of Jesus, GayatfootofCross, phkrause, pierrepaul and 2 others 5 Quote

LifeHiscost Posted July 13, 2015 Posted July 13, 2015 yes It is all about Jesus! If we take into consideration that there is a god of this world who is a master of deceit and knows the Holy Bible better than we do, which up to this point of time has proved to mislead innumerable sincere people that are in danger of losing what God offers them if they don't recognize his capacity to deceive the very elect, if it were possible. 3 But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: 4 In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. 5 For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake....2 Corinthians 4 24 For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect....Matthew 24 God is Love! joeb Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 The vast majority of Christianity no longer believes "nothing is impossible" with God. There is a large portion of the SDA church that refuses to believe this. To me, taking pride in my specialty of sin is expressing that unbelief. hch Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 It is frightening what kind of Christians we become when Jesus is not the Center of the Center. The Bible as a weapon? Christians have been accused of beating people "over their head" with their Bibles. I read a true report of a man that had been taking a path through a bayou as a short cut to go home from prayer meeting. It was getting dark so he did not see the alligator until it grabbed his leg. He frantically beat it over the head with the only thing he had in his hand: his Bible. He got away and was treated in the ER for what the doctors confirmed to be an alligator bite. That rather unorthodox usage of the Bible probably saved that man's life though the alligator did not think kindly of it. JoeMo Posted July 17, 2015 Posted July 17, 2015 (edited) In healing services, Smith Wigglesworth used to smack people with his Bible all the time. God reportedly healed many people through Wigglesworth using this "technique". But that's not using the Bible as a weapon; that's using it as strong medicine! The American Smith's (from whom the name came) used to use a hammer and a hot fire to heat and beat the metal they have until it conformed to the image that they wanted it to be.
