Dr. Shane Posted January 4, 2006 Posted January 4, 2006 From what I heard, the information about them being alive was leaked out and not officially released. It seems the information had to be conveyed from one center to another since no electrical communications are allowed in the mines. This process of one center telling another to tell another and so on, resulted in an incorrect message which would have not been released until confirmed - except for the leak. I thought at first it was a miracle too but then almost immediately found out that they are actually dead. I feel so badly for the families. They were celebrating what they considered a miracle for about two hours before they found out the truth. Must have been something like the shock that the disciples felt when Jesus was killed and like the great disappointment experienced by the Millerites. We have only to cry with them, comfort them and pray for them. Their experience shows how important it is to put our faith into action every day so that if we should have a similar disappointment, we will not give up our faith also. Not only did these poor souls have to suffer the loss of their loved ones but to be so cruelly tricked by a false hope right before the blow ... that has to just be more than a soul can bear, I'm sure. Oh dear Lord please be very, very near and present to these folks right now. Draw them close to Your heart of infinite love, and comfort them with Your sweet mercies. But once they heard the minors were alive they became completely unprepared for the bad news. Thus its impact was crushing.
