Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted July 27, 2015 Members Posted July 27, 2015 I really don't care that the LGBT population has a flag. It can be flown, when appropriate, and in the appropriate venue. But replacing the US flag with the "rainbow" flag bothers me in two respects: 1) the rainbow flag doesn't represent the American people as a whole. It represents only a portion since it flies against the felt beliefs of many Americans. 2) the move to remove the *Confederate* flag was due to the fact that it offended a portion of the population, but not the majority, and the only time it was ever hoisted instead of the US flag was during the Civil War. Why should the rainbow flag be honored when it doesn't represent America, yet the Confederate flag be damned in the same breath? In a way, it seems that it's okay to offend Southerners, who love Dixie's flag, by prohibiting the flag to be publicly flown; yet, the rainbow flag is flown, publicly, and, moreover, replaces the US flag in places. Anyone else see the problem here? (just a note: after public outcry, the rainbow flag was removed from atop of Reno, Nevada's City Hall) phkrause, B/W Photodude, Stan and 1 other 4 Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. GayatfootofCross Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 (edited) I think I know what you are saying. I never thought of that before. The confederate flag was never officially flown during the civil war (at Southern Capital Cities). It was brought back by the KKK when they started doing their thing. The LGBTIQQAA ( the letters are getting longer beckons to he Nature of Inclusiveness .. which some institutions don't understand) Flag was always flown after Stonewall Riots [ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stonewall_riots ] I was there (in reading gay newspapers and socializing )... in the 80's When it was the topic of choice competing against the Pink Triangle (taking back the Symbol that they made us wear that symbol in the Extermination Camps ..to let everyone know 'yes' their is a group even more hated than the Jews andPoliticals (like Corrie ten Boom and Family of GOD [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Corrie_ten_Boom ] ). Everyone will know why you are there to work, starve. and die. Looking at the Both Flags I think..... A symbol of Solidarity for Both. A symbol of Support A symbol of Separation. A symbol of Defiance. A symbol of Rebellion. A symbol of Sin. hmmmm... ................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................. # When I see The Rainbow Flag I think of People not sex acts . Reno did that? ..I'm touched! Outta Here Posted July 30, 2015 Posted July 30, 2015 Perhaps the difference in what each flag represents is the reasoning supporting the flying of one flag and the banning of the other. One represents inclusion of all people, the other represents exclusion of some people. GayatfootofCross 1 Quote

Members phkrause Posted August 11, 2015 Members Posted August 11, 2015 What's the color of her skin got to do with anything????? Quote phkrause When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29;2
Liz Posted August 11, 2015 Posted August 11, 2015 Who cares what her skin color was. Why was she pottying in public? If someone can potty in public they probably don't have the mental capacity to understand that they shouldn't use a flag, they probably just thought it was some pretty cloth. The statement was made that it upset one onlooker in particular. Maybe it wasn't the use of the flag, but the act of someone pottying? Or could it have been the caregiver, as in "Uggh, Aunt Myrtle is doing it again"? Surely there is more that story?
