The Jehovahs Witnesses and the Royal Commision into Child Abuse in Australia.

Some truly shocking details are being brought forward to the current Royal commission into Child Abuse, being brought by the Australian Government into various church groups and other groups like the Scouts and so forth. This is currently all over the news with the allegations of so many incidents being covered up and hidden from police due to beliefs that they are not subject to the law because they are Jehovahs Witnesses. This is just one article, Google will quickly turn up many more. The fact that people could use such a justification like this and try and bring the Bible into it as a defence just absolutley makes me sick.

I was at a Safe Churches training ay a couple of Sabbaths ago and we were told that the Adventist Church can expect some bad reports to come out as well.

The SDA have already been up before the commission and had already handed over any details that they held. Not unlike the situation with the Salvation Army.

I may have said it before, but I increasingly think the problem with 'organised religion' is the 'organised' part, not the 'religion' part.

An organisation protects itself, and people within it do immoral things that they would not do as individuals in order to protect the organisation.

It's not limited to religious organisations - corporations and clubs and other kinds of organisations have this effect too.

Perhaps organisations can be saved, but only if the focus shifts from protecting the needs of the organisation to protecting the needs of the vulnerable.

Sounds similar to the deal made between the U.S. and Iran. An agreement made by a country or church organization, who have in their governing constitution the right to equivocate any stated wording as necessary, can hardly be trusted to fulfill them when the comfort level changes.

It would seem just as reliable to have a disorganized entity.
