  At least 1 million people are expected to make their way to the Philadelphia region for the 8th World Meeting of Families in September, highlighted by Pope Francis' first visit to the United States and an expected Papal Mass on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway.

The calamities by land and sea, the unsettled state of society, the alarms of war, are portentous. They forecast approaching

events

of the greatest magnitude. The agencies of evil are combining their forces and consolidating. They are strengthening for the last great crisis. Great changes are soon to take place in our world, and the

final

movements

will be rapid

Through the two great errors, the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness, Satan will bring the people under his deceptions. While the former lays the foundation of spiritualism, the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome. The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hand of spiritualism; they will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power; and under the influence of this threefold union, this country will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience. {GC 588.1}
