No ticks are different from chiggers. I believe chiggers are nastier but ticks are literally blood suckers. They are black or brown and mange to get in hard to reach places and burrow their way under your skin and enjoy a meal of your blood. That is how you get Lymns disease which after you get it will always stay in your system. Corn roasts are the big thing in our area. All three churches have their roast on different weekends plus a couple in our WV neighbors ... beautiful farms and even more beautiful people.

I cannot wait until Jesus comes back. I can't wait until I can see His face, see Him smile, hear Him laugh and give Him a huge hug. I can't wait to see my family that have passed away. I can't wait to see the pets that have died. Jesus has done so much for me. No other name causes as much reaction as the Holy name of Jesus. If Jesus is not real, then why does the simple cross cause so much yelling and screaming? Why does the mention of a Bible cause temper tantrums and running to authorities? Nativity scenes shouldn't cause the reaction they do if Jesus is not real. It wouldn't matter where the 10 Commandments stood if God wasn't real. Our own anthem America the Beautiful wouldn't have GOD shed His grace on thee if God wasn't real. Just the mention of Jesus causes an uproar. People don't want to be confronted with Jesus or even try to believe in Him because they enjoy what they are doing too much. But remember this: Jesus is coming back very soon. He will judge every one of us. Also remember this: God does not send people to hell. People's choices do. God will not let anyone into heaven who has used His name in vain or doesn't believe. Why would He let someone in who has treated Him with hatred? Wouldn't make sense. No one here would let anyone into their home that has treated them with hatred. All it takes is asking for forgiveness. He will forgive. I won't be responding back. Also remember: there are 2500 prophecies in the Bible. 2000 have been fully fulfilled. If you want to see Jesus' response to the signs of His second coming, then read Matthew 24. Just think about it this way: If I believed in God and He is not real, I only wasted my life. If you don't believe in God and He is real and you are standing before Him, you just wasted your eternity. There is nothing you can say then to save your soul. Come to Him today. He loves you and wants to show you what He can do in your life.

Chiggers get under your skin and makes a red welt and itches like the dickens. They are in the mite family and can barely be seen. Putting clear fingernail polish on it will kill it though.

Ticks, literally suck blood, and they get so fat that their legs won't work. Then they split open, killing the parent, and then the baby ticks come out and repeat the cycle. So what could they possibly be good for?

Actually, I had a severe tick problem in my dogs once and to figure out what was going on, I studied their lifecycle. True, they get very fat, but their legs continue to work. When thoroughly engorged with blood to their satisfaction, they drop off the dog or the current animal of choice, and they look for a dark place to hide. From that moment, you have two weeks to find them before they lay eggs and the female tick then dies, and another two weeks before the eggs hatch into thousands of "micro-ticks". I am sure there is another name for this stage of tick development. These micro-ticks look for a blood supply where they engorge to a size somewhat less than a grain of wheat and drop off. This stage I have not been able to quantify as to length of time, but from this stage they change into the regular tick that we all "know and love!" And after breeding, they look for another animal for their blood meal and the cycle starts again.

One day last fall, I was out on my deck and saw this bright yellow bird fly by with all the marking patterns of a Cardinal. I thought "that is really weird!" But when doing an internet search, there it was! (Not my photo.)

Many chiggers crawled up my legs and bit me while I was walking in tall grass in Texas, while the ticks dropped off overhanging branches while I was walking underneath them in California. Neither are pleasant experiences. The only method to remove a tick that we found was to slowly and carefully twist it around until it comes out, checking carefully that it remains intact. Next step: light a match and touch it to the tick while it's on a hard surface, or, wrap it in a sheet of toilet paper and flush it down the toilet.

We've done the twisty method on the dogs, too, with no problems. Vicks vapo-rub never seemed to work, just make a mess.

Corn is cooked in the shucks (natural state) in Huge containers of hot water

Sounds more like a "corn boil" and a lot of hot, wet work. We have roasted corn in the husk in hot coals from a camp fire. That's kind of a hit-or-miss project, though, unless you like burnt corn. We have corn on the cob throughout the summer. Shuck it, then throw it in the microwave on the "fresh vegetable" setting. White corn is by far the best.

Hmmm. I prefer yellow corn. I have cooked it in the microwave on high while still in husks. 4 minutes per ear, no soaking required. Chop off the end where it once connected to the stalk, and the clean ear falls right out. Delicious dinner in 4 minutes!

I had a horrible experience with chiggers many years ago.  I was in Missouri for the first time; and sat on the side of my in-law's farm pond to fish.  It was a hot day; and I was in gym shorts.  I unknowingly say in a patch of poison ivy that was infested with chiggers.  So I had poison ivy blisters with chiggers in them in a very undesireable and uncomfortable  place on my body.  I'll never forget that, no matter how hard I try.

We have a family fired who was a RN.  Then she wen to law school and became a successful attorney and partner in a law firm.  Then she got West Nile.  Now, she often cannot tell you where she lives.

What a gorgeous, rare bird!   On very, very rare occasions, I will see a Piliated Woodpecker.  They are the common woodpecker's Goliath.   

I have found clear plastic bird feeders that attach to the outside of a window with suction cups.    When I fill those, our cat thinks we have subscribed to "Feline TV" especially for him!   It keeps him mesmerized for hours and hours upon more hours.    The birds learn he is no threat and taunt him a bit.   Every once in a while, I will hear a thump against the window and know that our cat thinks the "Feline TV" is interactive.   He gets his pride hurt, but will be back to watching them again in no time!

Chaplain, I was aware that Lyme Disease could do that, but I didn't know that West Nile could do that to a person. How tragic and very sad.

That's awesome! I nearly purchased this for my husband in March for his birthday. I was afraid it wouldn't fit him though. Is it comfortable to wear?
