Cultural critics lament the “pornification” of advertising, pop culture and other aspects of contemporary society. Interesting thought. Quote

Interesting to note the word "pornification" has been used to describe an influence from the top echelons of our country's thought leaders when, as I understand it, America is a greater exporter of pornography to the world than any other nation. B/W Photodude Posted August 7, 2015 Posted August 7, 2015 Interesting to note the word "pornification" has been used ... I was impressed by this reporters assessment of Justice Scalia (not!). He doesn't like what he has to say, so he attempts to associate the word "porn" with the justice in an attempt to make him look bad. He couldn't even give an example of a "zinger" and how it related to a case, which necessitated going to other websites to find examples of "Scalia zingers." Truly a liberal hit piece on the justice. While we have some serious differences of opinion here, I would hope people as a rule don't resort to character assignation of other posters, but unfortunately, yeah, it gets done. Some don't seem to have enough upstairs to seriously discuss someone else's posting in a thoughtful informed way. And that is the way the writer was most like C/A! It is not about disagreeing. It is about how the message is conveyed. And it is about the underlying attitude and lack of civility and respect. The concern here is the coarsening of the culture of this forum by the antagonistic approach of some and the gravitation toward the titilation and shocking.
