Failure of 'Signs'

I get excited about signs too. I was pretty hyped when the Pope came, too see if he'd speak Sunday sacredness and stuff. I think its in his underlying scheme. I don't about the Sunday laws. I believe they will happen but at a slow progression. I was also watching for something to happen with Cern, haven't seen anything though.

 I was hearing that there was concern that an experiment by CERN risked creating a small black hole with potentially devastating results.  I saw nothing on the CERN website; so I didn't give it much credence.  The rumored event was supposed to take place in late September.  Either the dreaded event did not occur, or the CERN experiment never happened (probably the latter).

IMHO Islam is a greater threat to bringing about end-time events than is the RCC or papacy.

I hear ya. I graduated back in '65 from GNYA. I used to run the video/audio stuff for a Jewish/SDA pastor in NYC and listen to all his sermons on Daniel&Revelation. I figured we maybe have 20/30 years tops, (about 1985/95). Well here we are in 2015!! I'm not discouraged, sure once in a while you can't help but be, but that's because we go by our time not God's. When I look back to 1965, and than look at today, things have progressed so much in what I learned and have read in the Bible and how EGW interprets D&R. You can see, at least I can, that it can't take any longer. I've gotten to the point that when I'm talking to God, I ask him to just come already, even if I'm not ready, just come and end this so others who are ready can go and be with him. Obviously there are just a few more things that have to happen. Oh well come Lord Jesus, please!!

Correct AS, his 2nd coming. The dead in Christ will rise and the ones still alive that have not called for the rocks to kill them will meet him in the clouds and go to be with him in his heavenly home. While Satan will be all by himself on this bottomless pit called earth for 1,000 years!!

It is vanishingly improbable that the Large Hadron Collider at CERN in Switzerland will create microscopic black holes... and even if it did, they would sink to the centre of the earth and we'd never even notice. 

So that's one less thing to worry about...

I was interested to notice that in the text we read as I am coming soon.  The word for "soon" means quickly, which is slightly different.  I think the quickness of it is the most encouraging for believers.  when the time of Jacob's trouble really comes the events will be so rapid.   We won't have time to worry about "preparations"  we have to have the oil NOW.

I'm probably going outside the historic SDA envelope here; but I see the seven years that were cut off from the 70 weeks of years spoken of in Daniel as the last seven years of this age.  This period will begin as soon as those who are "watching" can positively identify the antichrist (the first of the horsemen in the 7 seals of Revelation).  The first 3-1/2 years will be years of relative calm; it is even feasible that a 3rd Temple one open to people of all faiths - will be built in Jerusalem during this time.   Halfway through this 7-year period, the antichrist reveals himself to the world by standing in that Temple, declaring that he is God (or Jesus); and limit access to the Temple to only those who accept him as god. This will initiate the reign of the beast and the time of trouble.  Conditions in the world will deteriorate rapidly; but it will still be due to man's wrath against his fellow man.  It will also be the start of the trumpets and plagues.  As the antichrist increases his stranglehold on the planet, God will say "enough"!  At that time, it will be God's wrath against wicked men - not man's wrath; and every one will see the difference.  It will make man's wrath look like a playground game.  These events will indeed be rapid ones; as the battle currently taking place in the supernatural realm spills over into the natural world.

Of course, we know how the story ends.  The kingdoms of this world will become the Kingdom of our LORD and of His Christ.

The last week of the "70 weeks of years" spoken of in Daniel.  This period will begin with the opening of the first seal on Revelation (the revealing of the AntiChrist).  This entity will forge a treaty between Israel and its Muslim neighbors; and break it after 3-1/2 years (in the middle of the week); when he takes over the 3rd Temple (which I think will be built in that 3-1/2 year period).  That's when the "prince" will break the treaty and take over the Temple; beginning the last 1260 days of this age.  I don't have time to write an entire Bible Study on this; it has taken me several years to reach this opinion; and I reserve the right to modify it at any time as the "story" unfolds.

Please don't quote EGW to me about a week for a year, 1844, etc.  I don't buy it.  Unfolding history has virtually proven the misinterpretation of her visions.

We tend to base our prophetic world view on what has happened in the past.  For example, up until the mid-20th century, people had a justifiable reason to suspect the papacy to be the antichrist.  They had a justifiable reason for several hundred years - the RCC was acting like a "beast".  People were reading the signs of the times as accurately as they could.  There are different signs of the times now.  IMHO, we can't rely exclusively on the world view that people held from the 16th century to the mid-20th century.  The world has changed as much between the mid 20th century and now as it did in the previous 100 years.  We have orders of magnitude more info available to us now as they did then.  We can see the whole world in real time.  We need to be applying what we see now as signs of the times rather than what people saw 75 - 500 years ago.  This is more likely to be the end-times than then.

The beast of Rev 13 is the RCC.  I've studied it, it has been studied over and over and over.  It can be no other institution but the RCC.

The beast of Revelation 13 and Revelation 17 is fundamental jihadist Islam. Read the verses in the epistles of John that describe the characteristics of the spirit of antichrist.  Never has the Catholic Church denied the divinity of Christ.  Islam sure has (and still does).  I don'y see marauding bands of Catholics running around beheading people and burning them alive (at least for the past 200 years).  I don't see militant Catholics banding together and calling for the destruction of Israel and the extermination of Jews.

Apostate Christianity of all denominations (not just the RCC) is the harlot riding the beast in Rev. 17.

The papacy cannot be the harlot, the beast, the little horn, and the antichrist all at once.  That being said, it doesn't mean that it doesn't have some role to play in the end times.

The great statue of Daniel is an indeniable fact that all has been plotted out.. About refiner and more minute details.. We aren't provided clear landmarks as that statue of Daniel..

The clear part is we are at the last stage of that statue and ofcourse we can assume that it's far sooner then the more previous world empire stages of that statue.

Didn't Jesus say something about asking or looking for signs?

I think we would do better to study the word and when the signs come (as they will) we would better understand them in their proper context.

As I read Daniel: President Obama is a sign.

If he leaves office before Christ comes, I will have totally misread Daniel.

Keep in mind that one of the signs (in the endtime) is that there will be scoffers
