bonnie Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 OCTOBER 5, 2015BY DEAN JAMES High School Principal Cancels ‘American Pride Day’… Here’s The Students EPIC Response This is the United States Of AMERICA! We respect our country and we respect our heritage. We also respect our flag. Our country didn’t become the greatest nation in the world easily. It has taken blood, sweat, tears and the ultimate sacrifices to become what we are. We are proud and have the right to celebrate the greatness of our country, right? When people move to our country from their cesspools they need to assimilate. But liberals don’t agree. They go out of their way not to offend them. Look, I don’t give a [censored] if they are offended. Get the hell out if you don’t like it here. Period. FOX is reporting that Wyoming students staged a patriotic protest against their high school’s decision not to hold “America day” during its homecoming week. Juniors and seniors at Jackson Hole High School wrapped American flags around their shoulders, sported stars-and-stripes clothing, and drove a diesel truck bearing the flag around the school parking lot. Administrator Mike Hansen said they decided to go with an alternate theme after some students expressed concerns that the event made some students feel “targeted and singled out.” Principal Scott Crisp suggested that the name of the event was the problem, pointing to a student survey that showed many students were against it. In an open letter, Crisp said that student council leaders and administration discussed alternative ways to name the day “Patriot Day” or “Heritage Day” to be inclusive. Both of these days were declined by JHHS Student Council leaders. Parents like Ted Dawson took to Facebook to protest the decision. The school instead decided to hold a “College Day,” though some students felt that was discriminatory against those who cannot afford to attend college. These students should be saluted for standing up for the American flag and their patriotism! Naomi and phkrause 2 Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted October 7, 2015 Members Posted October 7, 2015 Unfortunately, these students apparently had no clue whatsoever of American Flag laws. The United States Code Title 36. Chapter 10. Section D, states in part, "(d) The flag should never be used as wearing apparel, bedding, or drapery." If they want to protest, the students really ought to know what they're actually doing, and how their actions can negate their intent. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
CoAspen Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 Basically, it sounds like the school wanted to make it an inclusive day, consulted with students and others before their decision. Then, its sounds, they got slammed for it and it was turned into 'agenda time' by media, parents and others. Never let all the facts discourage people from acting like.........! Quote

It certainly is a good thing we have those that have all facts. It was a inclusive day. Those that have come here to live are americans by choice. If they don't want to be considered americans let them go home. No one held them at gun point to come here and many take taxpayer benefits. This is America and this statement is ludicrous. offensive" to have an America Pride Day! Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. CoAspen Posted October 7, 2015 Posted October 7, 2015 >>A piece of the homecoming planning included JHHS student council representatives creating a Spirit Day school wide student survey, which was approved by the JHHS administration. This provided all students an opportunity to weigh in and engage in the democratic process of determining how to celebrate each day. This process included the voices of many of our students as opposed to just the opinions of JHHS student council leaders or JHHS administrators only, as had been past practice. The results of the survey are as follows: 1 Toga/Pajama Day 2 Lumberjack Day 3 America Day 4 School Spirit day (orange and black) 5 College Day 6 Decades Day 7 Cowboy Day 8 Sports Day. The JHHS student council and JHHS administration selected days to ensure support of TCSD’s goal of ensuring everyone has a safe, caring, and healthy environment. America Day had many personal student comments about why that day was uncomfortable for some students. In an effort to compromise on the title of a day, and to meet district goals, a conversation with JHHS student council leaders and JHHS administration discussed alternative ways to name the day “Patriot Day” or “Heritage Day” to be inclusive. Both of these days were declined by JHHS Student Council leaders. <<< Above quoted from Admin letter.... I am curious as to why people feel there is a difference between America Day and Patriot Day, which was not satisfactory to student council. Again I will say it is a tempest in a tea pot. Based on the comments made by some parents and a poster here, it would not be to far a stretch to think the issues at that school just might run deeper than is being reported. Again all the fact do not seem to be reported and considering the source "Fox News", there is an agenda. Quote
bonnie Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 What is wrong having an American Pride Day in America. Assuming that those that have come here want to be treated as Americans when the benefits of living here versus the country they have come from suit them, are they not Americans all the time? Those born in America and claim to be uncomfortable with that,to bad. They also have a choice. Pride in america is not a demand to approve all things and all actions. bonnie Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Just as a little aside,I assume that you either live in Jackson Hole or have close family members that do so you are qualified to denigrate those that do not agree with you. And of course you know they feel as they do because of Fox News. Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. bonnie Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 America Pride Day has been previously a part of Homecoming week in Jackson Hole. Basically this was for a Latino community that might feel left out. They have chosen America as their home, this shoould be their country now. If they are opposed to America,go home. If they choose not to assimilate, they don't need to try to dictate their preferences or objections to America Quote Everything you do is based on the choices you make. Sometimes American pride can mean arrogance, ignorance and disdain for other groups and cultures. Healthy pride can celebrate America without denigrating others. bonnie Posted October 8, 2015 Author Posted October 8, 2015 Sometimes American pride can mean arrogance, ignorance and disdain for other groups and cultures. Healthy pride can celebrate America without denigrating others. Yes it can and should. Most involved are latinos that have left a less than desirable country to become americans that are now offended by the symbol of their Chosen country. To bad,if they do not want to be americans,go home or to another country Just as those that believe to have American Pride day is wrong should be able to say so without denigrating others. Then, its sounds, they got slammed for it and it was turned into 'agenda time' by media, parents and others. Never let all the facts discourage people from acting like........ .
