My love as deep; the more I give to thee,
The more I have, for both are infinite."

Am I reading it right? Anything below the chest starts to get uncomfortable for a man by his own partner??? Why??? Our church is also a hugging zone, everyone hugs everyone else, and while I'm a hugger and it doesn't bother me, my daughter is the exact opposite, she doesn't like to be hugged or petted by anyone other than close family. We've had to go over how to thwart overly friendly people and set boundaries.

For what will a man be profited, if he gains the whole world, and forfeits his soul? Mat. 16:26

Ability to read contexts and clues is sometimes tricky, but I think any proposal, in any direction, to make the world conform to one person's preferences is a backward step.

With male friends, acquaintances and relatives I have a range from a nod, through a handshake to a hug, and with females a similar range. Occasionally I get it wrong, but usually I can read the signs. (Most recently I think I shook my son-in-law's hand on his birthday when he was primed for a hug. Forget where we were up to in our relationship. Same with a female colleague at a meeting recently.)

For those who aren't able to instantly assess the context and clues as well, the chart sure is handy. Anyway...to each his own!

People are different.  My ex-wife was very uncomfortable with males, other than me giving her a hug.  From  my personal observation, those who did it once and did not read the signs had a problem and were probably people who should not be hugging other women.

Working in a hospital where I had a lot of interaction with patients, fellow employees, and family members, I made it a rule that I would never initiate contact with a female.   I would wait for them to initiate the contact and I would respond in like manner.

I rarely initiate hugs, but I do accept them when offered, usually from females and my son-in-law. I do hug my wife frequently, but all the other hugging usually tends to make me uncomfortable to varying degrees. Huggers kind of invade my personal space, and maybe the next level past hugging is kissing. Once the personal space barrier is willingly crossed, it would be much easier to escalate the physical interaction to a more intimate level with the right person.

I doubt if Jesus, as future ruler of this world, was much of a hugger, but that's just my opinion.
