Great article. I used to get stopped by the police quite a bit, and each time I would be very confrontational and always got a ticket. As I got older and got closer to Christ, I got stopped a lot less and when I spoke as this man was talking about, the cops would let me off each time, so I know exactly what he's talking about. Praise the Lord for those that have respect for law enforcement.

Oh, If these blacks were just more polite!!!

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Nothing is so bad that we can't do some things that help to make it worse/or better if so motivated. I've been delivered from so many poor decisions that if I didn't spend some time each day praising God for His grace, I have no doubt my life could be almost intolerable. As it is I've been able to see the beauty there is in the free gift of His Son, instead of having to suffer for stubbornly refusing to see most of my bruises are directly responsible to personal failures of my own.

I'm often reminded of the words from a song that can move me to tears when I choose to recognize and dwell on all I have for which to be thankful.

"When He was on the cross, you were on His mind."

Treat others like you want to be treated is how that goes.

As some have experienced no time or opportunity for politeness is given...

"Absurdity reigns and confusion makes it look good."

"Sinless perfection is such a shallow goal."

"I love God only as much as the person I love the least."

*Forgiveness is always good news. And that is the gospel truth.

(And finally, the ideas expressed above are solely my person views and not that of any organization with which I am associated.)

Just as many PO haven't experienced any time to be polite.

Everything you do is based on the choices you make. It's not your parents, your past relationships, your job, the economy, the weather, an argument, or your age that is to blame. You and only you are responsible for every decision and choice you make, period ... ... Wish more people would realize this.

Yeah, if only they were instead of running around chanting, Pigs in a blanket, fry 'em like bacon. And, What we want?  Dead cops.  When do we want them?  Now.

How's a cop supposed to know if he's pulling over one of those people, or someone like the guy in this story????  I'm not saying all cops are angels, but if treated with respect most of them return the same attitude.   Like others here I've had my experiences with cops, both good and bad.  However, most of my bad ones were started by my own attitude.  When respectul and honest I've been let go with verbal warnings for things like 40mph over the speed limit and a reckless driving charge.   If I had mouthed off or been dishonest with the cops that let me off with verbal warnings I would have spent some time in jail and had some serious fines to pay.

It's like the highway patrolman who was helping someone he pulled over who had no license and no insurance and got shot for his trouble.  What was his crime?  Helping someone get a motel room for the night and something to eat for kids in the car he pulled over?  He wasn't even going to write the guy a ticket.  He was all about helping and what happened?  He got shot for his troubles.  How many times does that have to happen before his fellow officers get rough?  If they do I, for one, don't blame them.

Liberty cannot be established without morality, nor morality without faith.
