Amelia Posted January 12, 2006 Posted January 12, 2006 At Least 345 Dead in Latest Hajj Tragedy By SALAH NASRAWI Associated Press Writer Jan 12, 2006 MINA, Saudi Arabia (AP) -- Thousands of Muslim pilgrims rushing to complete a symbolic stoning ritual during the hajj tripped over luggage Thursday, causing a crush in which at least 345 people were killed despite Saudi attempts to prevent stampedes that have plagued the annual event. The stampede occurred as tens of thousands of pilgrims headed toward al-Jamarat, a series of three pillars representing the devil that the faithful pelt with stones to purge themselves of sin. Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. Gen. Mansour al-Turki said 345 people were killed. More than 1,000 people were injured, said Dr. Abbasi with the Saudi Red Crescent. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/S/S...mp;SECTION=HOME Quote <p><span style="color:#0000FF;"><span style="font-weight:bold;"><span style="font-style:italic;">"Do not use harmful words, but only helpful words, the kind that build up and provide what is needed, so that what you say will do good to those who hear you."</span></span> Eph 4:29</span><br><br><img src="http://banners.wunderground.com/weathersticker/gizmotimetemp_both/US/OR/Fairview.gif" alt="Fairview.gif"> Fairview Or</p>
Moderators John317 Posted January 13, 2006 Moderators Posted January 13, 2006 What I find particularly amazing and disturbing is that Muslims are often quoted in the news article as saying that this tragedy could not have been avoided because Allah made it happen. If only they would do something to stop it, they would see that it has nothing at all to do with Allah but only with their own foolishness. What kind of god is this Allah that he would do things like this? He is certainly not same God of the Bible. Allah sounds more like he has the character of Satan. Jim Quote John 3:16-17 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. [17] For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
