Reddogs Posted November 7, 2015 Posted November 7, 2015 I was checking some facts on some sites and came across this ...'Following the close of probation will be a "time of trouble," a brief but intense period of time immediately preceding the second coming of Jesus Christ. Adventists have traditionally believed that the Roman Catholic Church will return to prominence during the end times, fulfilling the prophecy of the first beast of Revelation 13'.... but the graph they gave showed it as centuries instead of a short time.Seventh-day Adventist eschatology - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia In my thinking its a very short time in terms of weeks or months, in which the righteous are sealed and the Holy Spirit is withdrawn and the wicked no longer drawn from sin, then Christ comes.... Whole Soul Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 We tend to like short answers. We also like “feel good” answers. This is a question that cannot be answered in 5 minutes. However, I think a satisfactory answer could be had in 35 minutes. Few folks have an attention span that long. Then there are those who do not think we can know; don't think we should know; and sure enough don't think I know. I once heard Doug B. say the time of trouble could be about two months. I'll vote for that. Of course he is just guessing. In fact we are all just guessing. No one can prove something that has not happened yet. No one! But wait. This means that it is a level playing field. Which means my guess is just as good as Doug's. Your guess is just as good as mine. Obviously it depends on what you base your guess on. I am very interested in your guess and what you base it on. This is an extremely important subject. Presently it gets little attention, but some day everyone will be asking, “How long, O Lord, how long?” Oh, if only we knew how much longer we had to suffer. An assurance that victory was in sight would be so reassuring. Wouldn't you love to be one who could instruct many during those dark days? Question: After Noah and his family were safely sealed inside the ark, did Noah know how long it would be before it would start to rain? The answer is found in Genesis chapter 7. This is a good place to start. Quote
Samie Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 My answer: 45 days. Examine the chart below. I will be glad to address all questions. Quote
Samie Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 The number of days in the chart are literal days. Quote
JoeMo Posted November 14, 2015 Posted November 14, 2015 Hey Samie, I like your chart. I don't agree with it 100%; but I like the way you're thinking. Without getting into intricate details like we usually do, just for sake of conversation, who do you think the beast power is? Who do you think Babylon is? Who do you think the AntiChrist is? When do you think the 70th week of Daniel begins? I'll tell you where I am right now, in light of currently unfolding events in Paris. These are just opinions. I am not prepared to back up everything in my "opinion" with Bible verses. I also reserve the right to change my opinion as events unfold. I think the beast power is jihadist Islam (e.g., ISIS) I think Babylon is apostate Christianity who refuses to take the "stand required in this time to stand for the Kingdom of YHVH I think (arguably) that the AntiChrist is the coming Mahdi; who - acoording to Islamic eschatology - will be accompanied by the Prophet Jesus (the False Prophet of the Bible) who will be the executioner of all infidels under the reign of the Mahdi. I think the 7 years will begin as the first seal opening - with the revelation of the Mahdi. Quote
Samie Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Presently, I am not yet in a position to positively identify who the Beast is. I believe, he is yet to enter the scene. I can only say that the Beast will come from the nation that will devastate modern-day Israel in a yet future battle (see Dan 11:16-21). That devastation will be the reason for the issuance of the yet future commandment to build and restore Jerusalem. The third ruler of that nation (from the first one who caused the devastation of Israel) will be the Beast, which also is the man of sin, the antichrist. Quote
8thdaypriest Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Daniel 7:25-27 “He (the little horn Antichrist power) shall speak pompous words against the Most High, shall persecute the saints of the Most High, and shall intend to change time law. Then the saints will be given into his hand for a time and times and half a time. “The saints” are persecuted by the “little horn”Antichrist power for three and a part years. At the END of this time period (1260 days, 42 months), the kingdom is “given to the saints of the Most High” by the Heavenly Court. The prophecy of Revelation sounds very similar. Revelation 13:4-5 [The deadly would was healed and AFTER that] “So they worshiped the dragon who gave authority to the beast; and they worshiped the beast, saying, ‘Who is like the beast? Who is able to make war with him?’ And he was given a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies, and he (the beast) was given authority to continue for forty-two months” (v. 7-8). “And it was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them. And authority was given him over every tribe, tongue, and nation. And all who dwell on the earth will worship him, whose names are not written in the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.” Where SDA prophetic interpretation got messed up, was in putting the 1260 before the "deadly wound" rather than AFTER that wound was healed. I guess - UNTIL we can identify the Beast, we won't know what the "deadly wound" was. According to Rev. 17:10, the 7th "head" would continue only a short time. I don't know whether that time period applies to the entire existence of that 7th "head", or to the period during which that "head" persecuted Israel. I prefer to think of the heads as "persecuting heads". I don't believe one rises immediately after the previous. The periods of persecution may be widely spaced. Islam has continued for some 1400 years - longer than Egypt, or Assyria, or Babylon, or Rome, ruled the (then known) world. Islam is STILL persecuting the people of God, whether Jewish or Christian. Now - Hitler persecuted for only a "short time". So maybe Hitler is the 7th head. The Papacy - which has continued for some 1600 years, has lasted LONGER than any of them, though she has not persecuted the literal nation of Israel during all of that period. The nation of Israel was GONE, and her people scattered BEFORE the Papacy arose to power. Of course she HAS persecuted God's redeemed Israel - of all believers. Also her reach was/is wider than any other Beast. She does NOT seem to currently be persecuting. The 8th "head" is the Beast. And he "is of the seven". Exactly WHAT that means??? Does it mean that the Beast must rule over the same territory which was ruled by one of the previous heads? Does it mean that the final Beast will be of the same character, as the previous Beasts? I believe so.... Does it mean that the final Beast will actually BE the resurrection of one of the previous Beasts? Possible. I still think it possible that Islam (two horns of the Ram would be Sunni and Shia) could be used of Satan as a counterfeit Beast, leading the world to follow Satan's true Beast power, who will "save" the world from the Islamic Beast, but then impose economic control, and religious control. Most have no idea how RICH the Vatican really is. She could loan the Western nations enough money to keep fighting against ISLAM. She would then want payback, of course. JoeMo 1 Quote 8thdaypriest

JoeMo Posted November 16, 2015 Posted November 16, 2015 Rachel - As always, I like the way you think. About the only place "might" take issue is that I am currently of the opinion that Islam ain't no counterfeit antichrist - it's the real deal. TrevorL Posted November 25, 2015 Posted November 25, 2015 Greetings Reddogs and others, Although I cannot specify the length of time involved in “The Time of Trouble”, there is some indication of the events leading up to and included in this Time of Trouble. The term “Time of Trouble” is found in the following:Daniel 12:1-2 (KJV): 1 And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. 2 And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. There are a number of things stated in the above: 1. We have the phrase “at that time” stated twice in verse 1 and this is set in the context of the events depicted in the last verses of Daniel 11. 2. Two events are associated with these “at that time”. The first is that Michael shall stand up, and the second is that God’s people will be delivered. 3. It speaks of “a time of trouble, such as never was”, and from this we derive the phrase “the Time of Trouble”. 4. Also the resurrection of the righteous and the wicked will occur, and the righteous will receive everlasting life, while the wicked will suffer shame and perish. Looking again at Item 1, the context is the events depicted in:Daniel 11:40-45 (KJV): 40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. 41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. 42 He shall stretch forth his hand also upon the countries: and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. 44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. 45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. Looking at the above: 1. Verses 40-45 speaks of events at “the time of the end”, and this links up with the two occurrences of “at that time” in 12:1. 2. There are two distinct powers mentioned and their activity. The first is “the king of the south” and he is the first to act when he pushes at “the king of the north”. 3. The rest of the passage speaks of the activity of the king of the north, his invasion of the Holy Land and other countries, and his initial success. 4. This king of the north then has distress at tidings out of the east and north, and he responds in fury and further conquest. Despite his final apparent triumph in planting “the tabernacles of his palace” “in the glorious holy mountain” he is overthrown by Divine intervention. A brief synopsis of my understanding of these events: 1. The king of the south of verse 40 was the British Power who occupied Egypt and pushed the Ottoman Power out of the Holy Land in 1917. 2. The king of the north is the Russian Power that comes against Turkey and then invades the Middle East. See also Ezekiel 38, Zechariah 14, Revelation 16:12-16. 3. This Russian Power will be destroyed upon the mountains of Israel by the intervention of the Lord Jesus Christ. See also Daniel 2:44, 8:23-25. 4. Our Lord Jesus Christ, who takes over the previous role of Michael, will at that time deliver the nation of Israel from the hand of the invading power and convert this remnant. In this same period of time Jesus will raise and judge the dead and then establish the Kingdom of God upon the earth for the 1000 years. See also Isaiah 2:1-4 and Micah 4:1-8. 5. Thus we are possibly seeing the start of the time of trouble. Even if things settle down for a while, the events depicted in Daniel 11:40-45 will precede and include the time of trouble and the Kingdom of God will soon be established upon the earth for the 1000 years. Kind regards Trevor Quote
Alchemy Posted January 13, 2016 Posted January 13, 2016 Well, neither the Bible nor Ellen White give us the length of time the Time of Trouble will last. But, I do believe it will be shorter rather than longer. I would not be surprised if to were less than six months. And this would include the personation of Christ by Satan and the fall of Babylon. As far as the beast is concerned, we know his wound is almost healed. Quote Luke 12:32 NKJV

skyblue888 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 The duration of this time of trouble. It has generally been held in the past that the time of trouble occupied a whole year from the close of probation to the second coming of Christ in the clouds of Heaven. This concept was based upon a certain understanding of Revelation 18:8 which reads as follows:"Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death and mourning, and famine; and she shall be utterly burned with fire; for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her." Knowing as we do the well established principle that a day in prophecy is symbolic of a literal year, then it is all too easy to quickly arrive at the conclusion that this means the seven last plagues will be one literal year in falling, but such a conclusion can only be held by overlooking several important facts. In the first case there are three other verses in the same chapter which state that it will come "in one hour." See verses 10,17, and 19. Now one hour is just as much a time symbol as one day, which means then that here we have conflicting witness in this chapter. One could take the weight of evidence and conclude that there are three texts which state it will come in one hour to the one which states they will come in one day, and therefore conclude that the plagues will occupy one twenty-fourth of a prophetic day which is about fifteen literal days, more or less. However, to take this position cannot be satisfactory while ever there is that text which distinctly says one day. The only remaining position to take is that the year day principle is invalid at the time spoken of in this chapter and this is the correct position to take. It is correct because we have been distinctly told that after the close of the 2,300 day prophecy, prophetic time had ceased. The word of the mighty Angel who is no less a Person than Christ Himself, has declared that "there should be time no longer." Revelation 10:6. As this was spoken at the time of the bitter-sweet experience, we know that it applies to the termination of the great 2,300 day prophecy, which ended in October 22,1844.In commenting on this statement, the Spirit of Prophecy has this to say: "This time, which the Angel declared with solemn oath, is not the end of this world's history, neither of probationary time, but of prophetic time, which should precede the advent of our Lord. That is the people will not have another message upon definite time. After this period of time, reaching from 1842-1844, there can be no definite time tracing of the prophetic time. The longest reckoning reaches to the autumn of 1844." E.G.White, 7B.C.971.By this clear declaration then, we can know that after 1844, the year day principle of interpretation no longer applies, so that we are not to understand that either the use of the word "day," or "hour," in Revelation 18, is intended to reveal to the Bible student the exact length of time in which the plagues will fall. Rather, the idea which is being conveyed is that it will come suddenly and in a very short period of time. In actual fact we have no real indication of how long the time of trouble will extend beyond evidences which suggest it will be very much less than a year in duration. In the first case, as we have so clearly seen in our past study, the death decree will have already been passed and the date set for its execution, before the great time of trouble actually begins. This fact should tell us that the time of trouble would have to be much less than a year. In respect to this we must remember that the fearful calamities and disasters which desolate the world during the seven last plagues do not fall upon a world enjoying at the time of the beginning of this period, a glorious and sunny prosperity. This will be far from the case for, as the world progressively stiffens its resistance to the truth, the devil has greater and greater control over the elements, so that calamities and disasters increase and spread even before the loud cry begins. One has but to look out today on the world scene to know that things in this field are growing worse and worse, and will continue to do so as the rejection of the truth of God increases."While appearing to the children of men as a great physician who can heal all their maladies, he will bring disease and disaster, until populous cities are reduced to ruin and desolation.(Ezekiel 14:12-17) Even now he is at work. In accidents and calamities by sea and by land, in great conflagrations, floods, cyclones, tidal waves, and earthquakes, in every place and in a thousand forms, Satan is exercising his power. He sweeps away the ripening harvest, and famine and distress follow. He imparts to the air a deadly taint, and thousands perish by the pestilence. These visitations are to become more and more frequent and disastrous. Destruction will be upon both man and beast.'The earth mourneth and fadeth away,''the haughty people do languish. The earth also shall be defiled under the inhabitants thereof; because they have transgressed the laws, broken the everlasting covenant.'" Isaiah 24:4,5; The Great Controversy,589,590.If things are bad as they are now, what will it be like in the earth as the Loud Cry progresses? Under the flood tide of that light the rejection of the truth will become more and more totally defiant and complete until the close of probation when it will be absolute, and Satan will have full control of the finally impenitent and of the elements of nature. Therefore during the Loud Cry period we can know that disasters and calamities will very rapidly increase until the world is in a very sorry state even before the seven last plagues are poured out. phkrause 1 Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." skyblue888 Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 A statement which is worth some consideration on this question of the length of the duration of the time of trouble is this one from A Word to the Little Flock, p.12."The Lord has shown me in vision, that Jesus rose up, and shut up the door, and entered the Holy of Holies at the seventh month, 1844; but Michael's standing up (Daniel 12:1) to deliver His people, is in the future. This will not take place until Jesus has finished His priestly office in the Heavenly Sanctuary, and lays off His priestly attire, and puts on His most kingly robes, and crown, to ride forth on the cloudy chariot... Then Jesus will have the sharp sickle in His hand,(Rev.14:14) and then the saints will cry day and night to Jesus on the cloud, to thrust in His sickle and reap. This will be the time of Jacob's trouble, (Jer.30:5-8) out of which the saints will be delivered by the voice of God." See also, Spiritual Gifts, Vol.1:206; 2:32; Early Writings,285; The Great Controversy,635-636.This statement tells us that as soon as Jesus has completed the work in the sanctuary as the High Priest, He changes His priestly garments for the kingly robes immediately following which He rides forth on the journey from Heaven to this earth to deliver His people. While He is thus riding forth, the saints upon the earth will be calling upon Him to thrust in the sickle and reap the harvest. (Rev.14:14-15) Then we are told that the time of Jacob's trouble is the time when this is going on, by which we would instantly know that duration of the time of trouble if we knew how long it will take Jesus to lay off the priestly attire, put on the kingly garments and fly down from Heaven to the earth. Now nowhere are we told just how much time will be occupied on this journey though we certainly do know that it can be accomplished in seven days and even possibly less for that is the length of time it will take to make the return journey. The evidence for this is given in Early Writings, 16. "We all entered the cloud together, and were seven days ascending to the sea of glass."That much then is clear that the journey need occupy but the seven days. However, we cannot take the definite position from this that there will be exactly the same length of time in coming. There may well be other factors not revealed to us which may extend the period a little, but it does indicate to us that the length of time will be a great deal less than one whole year.In reading of the experience of the saints during the time of Jacob's trouble, we find the following in The Great Controversy, 630-1:"Could men see with heavenly vision, they would behold companies of angels that excel in strength stationed about those who have kept the word of Christ's patience.(Rev.14:12) With sympathizing tenderness, angels have witnessed their distress, and have heard their prayers. They are waiting the word of their Commander to snatch them from their peril. But they must wait yet a little longer. The people of God must drink of the cup, and be baptized with the baptism. The very delay, so painful to them, is the best answer to their petitions. As they endeavor to wait trustingly for the Lord to work, they are led to exercise faith, hope, and patience, which have been too little exercised during their religious experience. Yet for the elect's sake the time of trouble will be shortened. Shall not God avenge His own elect, which cry day and night unto Him?...'I tell you that He will avenge them speedily.' The end will come more quickly than men expect."The evidence available then is that though of fearful intensity, the time of Jacob's trouble will certainly be much less than a year in length and will in fact be of quite short duration. To those who have to pass through it, it will seem like a thousand years while it is going on, but terrible and trying though it will be and seemingly beyond the power of human endurance, the strength of the Lord will be the victory of His people and in that time they shall come off more than conquerors. phkrause 1 Quote "The merits of His sacrifice are sufficient to present to the Father in our behalf." stinsonmarri Posted January 31, 2016 Posted January 31, 2016 It is clear that we must understand the Scriptures. I have read most of the comments and some were so close to the truth. We as Adventist have mix the 2300 days with Daniel Chapter 12 and do not realize that these days are literal. We really do not understand that Revelation is the continuation of Daniel. Also Daniel saw the beast burning in the Lake of Fire as did John. Dan 7:11, 12; Rev 19:17-21 Daniel Chapter 12 cover a lot but Revelation break's this Chapter down. Also we don't realize that the South and the North is history moving forward in time and now new powers had replaced the old regimes. Many nations will come to play very important roles but, the prophecy is to plainly reveal the facts about the religo-policial powers that will ultimate unite a short unique false worldwide worship against THE MOST HIGH YAHWEH ELOHIM. The message given by Gabriel will clearly reveal the final two most important evil foes one from the “king of the north” and the other from “the king of the south” that will cause Michael to stand for the people of the MOST HIGH ELOHIM and finally destroy this world for the new world to come. Revelation Chapters 4 and 5 is when1844 begins and THE LAMB take the Book of Life from HIS FATHER'S RIGHT HAND. Chapter Six by Adventist have be misunderstood completely. It is the sealing of YAHWEH'S from the beginning of man's disobedience. The four horses symbolizes that represent the earth from purity to its death because of man's sinful nature. The first rider on the White horse is Adam and Eve the only ones that were saved, Red horse Cain is the rider but the sealing are from Able to Methuselah who were saved and names remaining in the Book of Life, while others placed in and others blotted out. Black horse the rider Nimrod trade also begins, but the time of people saved was Noah his three son and their wives and those remain with him all way down through YAHSHUA'S time. This included those whose rose with HIM that went to Heaven the 24 elders included with those who with this group that were remain in or place in that were saved or those again blotted out. This also included the Apostles and all the people down to the Middle Ages. For the gray or pale horse the rider was not a person or human being but death and the grave. This is when the Catholic Church, Islam, Hinduism began to take control and believe it or not all three have beliefs that are similar. Check out and see! However, the Catholic was the major problem making the claim that a man was THE FATHER and THE SON of THE MOST HIGH. Men were worshiping him instead of ELOHIM. We all know the story behind the Catholic Church and their forcing men to worship their way from Constantine the Great throughout the Middle Ages. Here the horses stop but sealing continues because the gray or pale horse cover the fourth through the seventh seal. The people under the altar are those during the Inquisition and ELOHIM promise them they must rest but they will be vindicated. Others in the next seal will also be martyrs, but out of the Sixth seal would come the 144,000 wise virgins that will finish the work. Also in Rev 6:15-17 show that the latter part of the Sixth seal show first a small synopsis of the Time of Trouble concentrating on the Wrath of THE LAMB and the wicked hiding from THE FACE of YAWHEH ELOHIM who is sitting on Throne. The kings of the earth and the wicked will be hiding in dens and caves not the 144,000! The Sixth seals continue with the synopsis of an angel is sent to hold back the starting of the Time of Trouble until the 144,000 are sealed first. These are the wise virgins that YAHSHUA talk about and also in Daniel and Revelation. Dan 12:3; Matt:25:1-12; Rev 12:17; 7:1-8; 14:1-5 Just before the Time of Trouble as Daniel explains in the latter part of Chapter Eleven shows the rise and problem with Islam and the North now have become United States and her influence around the world. It also shows that the Papacy over taken Jerusalem putting down the Covenant of ELOHIM which is the daily and not the burnt sacrifices. Although there is more to be understood in the latter part of Daniel Chapter Eleven, one thing is sure and that is the building of the Temple that will go against ELOHIM and HIS Covenant. Also, the rise of the beast who Gabriel still states that his rise will come at the appointed time of the end. Then Chapter 12 opens to state just before he rises 3 1/2 years will take place. I know many thinks that Michael is standing but the word actually means confirm that this is the Time of Trouble base on what HE does in Rev Chapter Eight. The Seven Trumpet were to begin before they start their work a angel takes the Golden Censer that accepted the prayers of the saints. He take it and throws it down to the earth. The events that take place is the same event stated in Rev 6:14-17, THE WRATH of THE LAMB. It will be during this time that the Gospel will be preach unto all the world. The last and final group will be saved and nothing will stop the Two Witnesses the Old and New Testament. The 144,000 will not be hiding but have power on HIGH. When the finish the beast will arise. Rev 11:1-7 It is after he rises that the people of ELOHIM will scatter because their work had been done. The beast will have a short period of time actually one hour or 2 months. Jerusalem the city will be destroyed as well along with the papacy. Dan 12:7, 10-12, 16-18; Rev 17:12; 18: 10, 17, 19 This will be the battle of Armageddon. Rev 16:16 The destruction of Jerusalem/Babylon is to prepare for the New Jerusalem to come down out of Heaven. Rev 21:2 I ask those who read this to go back, read the Scriptures and remember line upon line here a little and there a little. I have shorten it but there is more to it and you must read it all. Then please give me a chance by asking questions so I can give you adequate explanations along with Scriptures. That is how we learn and reason together, not the name calling and insults! Blessings!
