I will say that his website, and the presentation of himself and his views there, is insufficiently polished and decidedly unprofessional. MN has been up until recently a very liberal stronghold, very willing to elect many that use religious leanings of others as sufficient grounds for attacks of all kinds. Not that many years ago MN even elected Jessie Ventura who made some very STUPID statements regarding the spiritual beliefs of others. Not those he felt were abusing that belief and trying to force it on others, but THOSE STUPID ENOUGH TO HAVE A SPIRITUAL BELIEF. He really didn't have a problem getting elected. He was underfunded,unpolished and unprofessional. Personally, I have no problem saying quite frankly Jessie was worse than a flake. Everytime someone disagreed with him, said something about him, or made a statement he could possibly take the wrong way, he pouted like a little spoiled brat and took his toys and went home. He not only had no religious belief of his own, which is his right, he mocked and ridiculed those who did. They were slightly stupid. My boyfriend was telling me earlier this evening he thought that might be why this guy thought he'd have a shot at it, too. Pretty much the same reasoning, that if they'd elect someone like Jesse Ventura maybe they'd elect just about anyone. Still ... I just can't see this dude getting too far. I just can't see regular folks electing someone who states up front that he is a "vampire" as well as a "Satanist." But I could always be wrong, of course ... Hopefully there is still enough brains left in this state to give something like this the boot, but it is not a given. The occult, satanism, whatever, has an air of respectibility it has not had in the past. People tend not to be appalled or upset by beliefs or activities such as this. Leaning more towards being very proud of how tolerant they are of all things. His list of what he will all do is almost a rerun of good old Jessie. Looks like he borrowed a page from Jessie's playbook. Anyone with half a brain should realize a governer is not a one man rule of a state and can not come in an make and enforce such a list but it makes the unthinking feel good that someone says it. Jessie did not get into trouble for his non-belief or for ridiculing religion as a whole. It was when he labeled all those that believed in God weak minded and fools. Kind of upset the ones that voted for him that identified themselves among the "weak minded fools" Had he belonged to a group such as this man I doubt whether he would have been blasted as he was. By that time those that had voted him in realized what they had voted for and they took great exception to being called weak minded fools. He said carzy things, but to him everything he said was brillant. It was only lessor mortals that thought he said crazy things. By the time his first term was nearly over most in MN could not wait to get rid of him. We were the ones embarrassed. Don't miss it so didn't seem to be any point. Have only had time to scan the paper so am a little behind in what is going on. Had even forgotten that we are going to have elections this year. The drival from both sides should be heating up soon enough. MN has been swinging in the more conservative direction the last two elections so will be interesting to see which way it goes this time around. This fruitcakes promises will undoubtedly strike a chord with many UNTIL like Jessie, many realize it is Them he is talking about. Many liked Jessie's remarks on gaining control of our welfare problems here. We have many moving into the state to take advantage of our more liberal monthly payouts. Moving just inside MN borders to qualify. Jessie was going to fix that, bot when the fix meant MN residents in general he lost much of his base. When a female college student asked what he planned to do to help students like her get affordable daycare so she could continue her education,he said "NOTHING". Jessie continued and said, "I did not get you pregnant and you should have thought of that before" Many remarks such as this sunk his boat for re-election. He made many visits around the state and everytime he opened his mouth he managed to insult someone. What he said in the playboy interview was actually in good taste for Jessie. He is a nasty, small minded, arrogant, showoff that has two achievements to his name that he trades from. He was a wrestler and a Navy seal. The navy seal is one he likes to shove in everyone's face. I have no doubt of his expertise in that area. He is a bully and likes to throw his weight around. He was just surprised to learn politics is a little like the religious thinking afterall. Everyone is all for getting rid of those that drain our welfare system, all for stiffer laws in what we abhor, UNTIL we realize it will hit us or ours. Yup, comments like that are what got him elected, comments like that after the election is what caused his problems. Then is when people began to realize the problem he wanted to eliminate was "them". The "them" didn't like that idea very well. Most liked his brash style when it was being directed at others, then it was "You go Jessie" When it got turned on their little group they began to squeal unfair.
