Dr. Shane Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Have you seen the Pastor Greg show on TBN or Gardian? Quote: There is nothing like it on Christian TV today and it is sorely needed ... We, too, want to be entertained with clean, fun, lighthearted television programming ... There is not nearly enough of this type of programming available to Christian programmers today ... -- Mark MacGregor VP of Programming FaithTV Quote: We are so excited to be including this program in our lineup. You have such wonderful talent and I know 'Pastor Greg' will be a blessing to our viewers. -- Vicki Coleman Program Director KSBN-SafeTV Quote: Pastor Greg represents the best in television comedy without resorting to put-downs and sexual innuendo for cheap laughs ... If religious television has a future, it will be in dramatic programming with sitcoms like Pastor Greg. -- Barry Bowen ChristianHeadlines.com >>> Pastor Greg <<< Greg Robbins: God Has a Sense of Humor My kids love to watch him in Animal Action and I was delighted to see him in this series. Halfstep Denise Posted January 16, 2006 Posted January 16, 2006 Hi, Shane! I watched "Pastor Dave" once, maybe twice and I'm still not sure how to relate to the program! He's a very different pastor than I've ever had. That doesn't make it bad though, just different! As long as he's not leading people down the wrong path he may be a great pastor! Dr. Shane Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 Well last week Pastor Greg was united with his long lost daughter that he didn't know he had... the show was continued. We are all chewing our fingernails tonight waiting to see the second half. Check your listings if you miss it. It is on Cornerstone television and the same episode is repeated 3 or 4 times during the week. It is also aired by TBN for those that don't have Cornerstone. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Derrell M Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Hehehehe! He's obviously a natural born preacher. Quote
Dr. Shane Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 I think the Pastor Greg program does more for my relationship with Christ than David Letterman's portrails of the President. The program didn't even deal with Pastor Greg's obvious past sin which created the unknown daughter. It focused on introducing the newly discovered daughter to Christ and... it touched on the hazzards of gossip. Now most Christians would be most concerned about the pastor's past life that created the daughter and not think twice about gossip so it was interesting to see how this episode turned that conventional thinking up side down. If anyone gets a chance, tune it in. It is a cute program with a good, Christian message. I would like to see an Adventist station make a program like this. Maybe it could be set in an Adventist hospital or university. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Pockey Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Hehe I posted the kid yawning because Pastor Greg sounds so wholesome. GBW just happens to be in the photo. I'm just teasing you though. I'm actually really impressed you watch this show. I mean, it seems so...wholesome/campy! Lol, I think it's good thing and I want to check it out. I searched the local TBN station here, but they don't air it <img src="/ubbtreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" /> Quote
Pockey Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 Btw how does one get ABN and Hope etc? Can you get it through Direct TV? Quote
Derrell M Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 No, they are not on DirecTV or on Dishnetwork. Go to www.hopetv.org and you will find all the pertinent info on how to get them. Quote
Dr. Shane Posted March 17, 2006 Author Posted March 17, 2006 You can get 3ABN with Dish network if you subscribe to SkyAngel (which is a great package) and you will also get another channel owned by an Adventist, SafeTV. However you can't get Hope TV with SkyAngel. If you have DishNetwork and want SkyAngel you will either need to turn your dish or buy a second one. You can also buy a 36" dish for $200 and there is no monthly fee. That is available fro adventistsat.com and that will give you 3ABN, Hope TV, LLBN (Loma Linda Broadcasting Network) and Dove TV. Check out >>> this thread <<< But don't look for Pastor Greg on 3ABN or Hope TV. Hope or LLBN may air something like it someday but I cannot imagine 3ABN ever airing a comedy. Pastor Greg is on 11:00PM Pacific time on Fridays and 1:30 pm Pacific Time on Sabbaths on TBN. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Find me at www.PostumCafe.com Author of Peculiar Christianity
Toni Posted March 17, 2006 Posted March 17, 2006 I've watched this show a couple times! I thought it was pretty cute and funny. It has a very "home-grown" feel...like it was taped with a camcorder, but I enjoyed it. Quote Toni
Dr. Shane Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 Well, I don't know if I would say "cam corder" but it certainly seems to be low budget. But I see that as encouraging. It isn't something the secular networks would put on primetime but certainly something our denomination could do to. It goes to show that it doesn't have to be high-budget to be worthwhile. How hard would it be to put a low-budget, but nice, set together of a hospital or university setting? Certainly we have talented writers that could write scripts. Those that watch the show watch it for its content and clean humor. I think folks at Hope TV or LLBN could put something just as good together. Quote Pastoral Family Counselor... Dr. Shane Posted March 18, 2006 Author Posted March 18, 2006 I was mistaken when I referenced this to being on Guardian. It isn't that I am aware of. It is on Cornerstone, Faith TV and TBN. The website lists SafeTV as being an affliate but I cannot find it in their schedule. Family Pass Quote: Greg was a playboy gambling drinking fool, living in the fast lane until God slammed on his brakes. Now Pastor Greg's life really starts with new friends, a new life, and a new beginning. In this family comedy premiere Greg is assigned to his first church, which is being run by the bossy secretary, the fussy business manager, the nervous youth pastor, and a maintenance man who's also the town mayor. Chaos breaks loose when they accidentally schedule a funeral, a wedding, and a children's play all in the same day. To top it off, Pastor Greg shows up a day early. More mayhem is waiting when he gets to the church, where the staff thinks he's a homeless guy who needs a handout. Pastor Greg Official Website Quote Pastoral Family Counselor...
