Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted December 5, 2015 Members Posted December 5, 2015 I know the Bible states that there will be no marriage in heaven and that we will be "like angels." However, the New Earth, as I understand it, will be as the recreation of the Garden of Eden — and the Garden of Eden provided for the existence of humans (and all other creatures) as couples. It doesn't seem logical that the New Earth would be different from God's original creation. If it was, then was God's original creation not perfect? Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
8thdaypriest Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Jesus didn't say, "In Heaven there will be no marriage." He SAID, "In the resurrection" - meaning those who are resurrected will not marry [the men], or be "given in marriage" [the women]. Quote 8thdaypriest
8thdaypriest Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I believe Jesus was saying that human beings who are transformed, and receive the immortal "spiritual body" will not reproduce, as physical beings once did. Adam and Eve were NOT created with immortal spiritual bodies. I think that was because the LORD anticipated their "sin" and did not want humans to suffer "until the age of the ages" as Satan and His angels will be "tormented". It's interesting, that the first conception, did not happen until AFTER Adam/Eve were driven from "the Garden". In the commands to Israel, everything associated with human reproduction: any kind of bodily discharge (eg semen) rendered one "unclean", and barred one from entrance into the Temple Court, or a priest from ministering in the Temple itself. The woman was "unclean" for a period after childbirth. The woman was "unclean" during menstruation. Sexual intercourse rendered both persons "unclean" until sundown. The LORD said that "nothing unclean" could enter into the Temple or even the Court. The Temple itself represented "Heaven itself", but the Court represented this earth (where the LORD died). If anything "unclean" was forbidden entrance into the COURT, that suggests to me, that there will be no sexual intercourse in the earth, after it is "made new". I always wondered WHY - if the LORD had commanded them to reproduce, that obeying the command actually rendered them "unclean". Never made sense to me, until I began to look at this as a prophecy - of the coming Kingdom. If reproduction is to be part of the earth made new - reproduction of animals as well as insects, etc. etc. then how will God deal with the problem of overpopulation and crowding. He must have had a plan - originally - to deal with this. It would seem that reproduction was simply a continuation of His "creating", and at some point, creation would be "finished". It would come to an END (Likely at the 7th "day" - meaning the 7th millennium). I know it seems sad - to us - the thought of no more babies. I just trust that God will provide other "new" things - just as meaningful. Quote 8thdaypriest
CoAspen Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 Quote It doesn't seem logical that the New Earth would be different from God's original creation. If it was, then was God's original creation not perfect? An often debated subject. I have heard sermons and explanations on both sides of the subject. The side one comes down on depends on which interpretation of the limited texts in the Bible one chooses to believe. For me, the question as posted, is the real crux of the matter....original creation not perfect? To many interpreting convolutions are gone through for those who choose to believe in no 'humans' again, only some type of 'angel' species. Not enough data in the Bible on this subject. I choose to believe there will be continuing family structures, why reunite them and then wipe out those memories? rudywoofs (Pam) 1 Quote

With some additional personal questions whether the other worlds that were created and inhabited with "creatures" made in the image of the Creator, have the ability of procreation, or perhaps the fall of this earhs' population settled the deprivation of this earth to be without end, as suggested in the Word. 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.....1 Corinthians 15 27 Art thou bound unto a wife? seek not to be loosed. Art thou loosed from a wife? seek not a wife. 28 But and if thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Nevertheless such shall have trouble in the flesh, but I spare you. 29 But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none....1 Corinthians 7 While the context may not be seen as fulfilling "all righteousness", it does seem worthy of consideration that extrapolating that which is not divinely led to pursue on this earth, would also not be something allowed in the holy atmosphere of the kingdom of heaven. CoAspen Posted December 5, 2015 Posted December 5, 2015 I wonder if a persons view of current marriage situations color their view in any way? Quote
Members phkrause Posted December 6, 2015 Members Posted December 6, 2015 I would imagine that while we are in heaven for those 1000 years, there will probably not be any marriage's going on. But after we get back to the earth made new, that could be a whole new story!! Just a thought!
