Clio Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 I have successfully duplicated, authenticated through SDA tastebuds, and happily snarfed down, homemade Loma Linda Sandwich Spread. *takes bow* This is no small feat as the makers pulled it from production a year ago. Edited to add: Maybe not 'snarfed' but it sure didn't last long! Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
Administrators Gail Posted January 17, 2006 Administrators Posted January 17, 2006 LOL Bully for you! Quote Isaiah 32:17 And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance for ever.
Clio Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 I cannot tell you how I suffered... having this incredible craving and knowing it was no longer possible to have a sandwich with sandwich spread, alfalfa sprouts and tomato. I even have some new converts... hehehehehe.... Now... If I can just figure out how to make nuteena.... Clio Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
Pockey Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Hey Clio, you could market that stuff I've been wanting to develop some type of food product. Since I always seems to be in a rush, I want to make some type of drink like V8 that has the essential daily nutrients in it, and that is easy to consume quickly. Kind've like rocket fuel for humans Not sure of all the FDA hoops you have to jump through though. Quote
Clio Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 No.... No desire to market it. I'm pretty much done with doing anything to "get ahead". Jesus will be here soon, and I'm traveling light. We just like it... And it's really healthy.... I've changed the ratio's of ingredients a little to make it healthier. Not quite as much peanut butter for less fat and oil content. If anyone is interested, tonight when I make some, (more that is!!! LOL) I'll get the amounts and post the recipe. I just found the ingredients for Nuteena, so now that I've got Sandwich Spread mastered, I'm going to tackle figuring out how to make Nuteena. Clio Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
Neil D Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Quote: I'm going to tackle figuring out how to make Nuteena. It involves steam cooking peanut butter... And you can have it...I hated that stuff...[gag] Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Â George Bernard Shaw Â

Clio Posted January 17, 2006 Author Posted January 17, 2006 Well, my focus is on stripping down, tearing off, and getting rid of anything that distracts me from being ready to go when Jesus gets here. Marketing ANYTHING, having done so in the past, is an intense effort. And you MUST get ahead, or you won't be able to afford to produce, market, and pay taxes on, whatever you're marketing. My focus is simply elsewhere. There are seeds of the Gospel to sow, that the harvest when Jesus is in the skies over Earth may be greatly enhanced and enlarged. Don't have time for marketing anything any more. Time is short Sid. Very, very short. Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
Pockey Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Heh, I was only trying to pay you a compliment with my marketing comment. But anyways, you're right, time is short indeed. Amen! Quote

I'm waiting for my ride and... while I can't see Him yet, I can hear the engine in the distance! Clio Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
Pockey Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Hey you're welcome! And Amen Amen! we don't live here. We are only ambassadors to this place. Quote
Nicodema Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Well before you are raptured, Clio, can we please have the homemade LL Sandwich Spread recipe? Quote "After such knowledge, what forgiveness?" -- T.S. Eliot
Clio Posted January 18, 2006 Author Posted January 18, 2006 Well, if I'm raptured, you're coming too, right? Yeah, I'll get the recipe. I was hoping to get the proportions down tonight, after I make it again... but time is against me. I may not get this done until this weekend! Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
Amelia Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 I wont be there. I dont believe in rapture and thus will not go willingly should it actually happen. Clio Posted January 18, 2006 Author Posted January 18, 2006 SHeesh.... It was supposed to be a funhy. I don't believe in the "rapture" either. it's going to be loud, obvious, trumpets, shouting, heavens rolled up like a scroll, every eye shall see Him, Jesus on a cloud, and my angel taking me to meet Him in the air. Clio Posted January 25, 2006 Author Posted January 25, 2006 Ok... Everyone who wanted this recipe.... here it is. Clio style. I never measure anything, so I'm giving descriptions of amounts. Sorry! 1 can of garbanzo beans - cook in juice until soft While the garbanzo beans are cooking, put the following in a mixing bowl: 1 cup of creamy peanut butter 1 can of chopped black olives 1 jar of chopped pimentos 1/4 cup soy flour small can of tomato puree Now, here's where measurements are a little dicey. For each of the following, in this order so you can see them, I sprinkled enough over the above ingredients to have a very thin film layer. Onion powder Garlic Powder Celery Salt Pepper Another dicey measurement: a pinch of cumin a pinch of majoram a pinch of thyme By now the garbanzo beans should be done. Process them in a food processor or blender with 2 teaspoons of lemon juice, and enough water to assist in blending them smooth. Add to bowl of ingredients. Mix well, cover and refrigerate several hours minimum. You might try baking it on low heat in a steam bath for about an hour too. *shrugs* I haven't done that yet, but have been meaning to try it and see how it goes. I've experimented with the following variations, most of which I liked, but others at home were more fond of the basic recipe. a tablespoon of sweet relish more peanut butter/less peanut butter more soy flour (NASTY!!!! gritty, grainy, icky taste!) sliced olives instead of chopped sliced green olives chopped dill pickles more tomato puree crunchy peanut butter instead of smooth (that was really good.) Enjoy! Quote A heart where He alone has first place.
