Neil D Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 Sen. Clinton slams Bush administration NEW YORK - Sen. Hillary Clinton on Monday blasted the Bush administration as “one of the worst” in U.S. history and compared the Republican-controlled House of Representatives to a plantation where dissenting voices are squelched. Speaking during a Martin Luther King Jr. Day event, Clinton also offered an apology to a group of Hurricane Katrina survivors “on behalf of a government that left you behind, that turned its back on you.” Her remarks were met with thunderous applause by a mostly black audience at the Canaan Baptist Church of Christ in Harlem. The House “has been run like a plantation, and you know what I’m talking about,” said Clinton, D-N.Y. “It has been run in a way so that nobody with a contrary view has had a chance to present legislation, to make an argument, to be heard.” “We have a culture of corruption, we have cronyism, we have incompetence,” she said. “I predict to you that this administration will go down in history as one of the worst that has ever governed our country. A spokeswoman for the White House declined to comment and referred questions to the Republican National Committee. RNC spokeswoman Tracey Schmitt said: “On a day when Americans are focused on the legacy of Martin Luther King, Hillary Clinton is focused on the legacy of Hillary Clinton.” [:"blue"] Hmmmmmmmm.... there may be a bit of fight in her yet...[/] Quote Democracy is a device that ensures we shall be governed no better than we deserve. Ron Lambert Posted January 18, 2006 Posted January 18, 2006 Hillary is probably mistaken in viewing the Republican Party as "Tara." Actually, it is the Democratic Party that is on the verge of being "Gone with the Wind!" Quote
Moderators james423 Posted January 21, 2006 Moderators Posted January 21, 2006 A couple of comments as I read this article: 1. How soon we forget what her husband's administration was like - open sexual misbehavior downstairs in the mansion she lived in, lying to cover up such transgressions, wholesale pardoning of felons or would-be criminals when her husband was in the last hours of his administration, attacks justified or not on the Branch Dividian compound in Waco. 2. As a voter, I've been listening to see if any worthwhile ideas have been coming from the Democratic party that she claims has not had a chance to present any ideas. There aren't any that I can find. All that seems to come from these people is the idea that nothing any Republican or anyone else ever thought of should be considered. Let's go back to big government, the bigger the better - which, by the way, is an echo of her union backers, according to a book I'm currently reading about the organizations fighting for the Right-To-Work laws in this country. 3. I am sure there are some abuses in the way the government is run like there has been in every single administration this country has ever had. But that is no excuse for the name calling this lady indulged in the other day. Just my thoughts. Quote James Brenneman
