Moderators Gregory Matthews Posted January 18, 2006 Moderators Posted January 18, 2006 Yesterday evening I had the honor to be elected to a place on the Board of Directors of our Homeowneres Association! I thought that I would share the details of that good news with my friends here in CA. My campaign was conducted with flair. My wife baked goodies which she brought to the meeting last night. We furnished those to the electors at large, and to the Board of Electors who did the counting, and proclaimed the results. It was satisfying to watch them counting, as they munched on the goodies that she had supplied. Another family also provided goodies, but when they saw what my wife had provided, they announced, publicly, their support for me. All in all, I think that was a campaign well run. When the results were announced, I had recieved 95% of the votes. In my campaign acceptance speech, I acknowledged the 5% opposition and stated that I would seek out, my worthy opponent, a Mr. Mobby Dick, and ask his advice and input into how I performed my duties. In view of the 95% return that I recieved, due in a major way to the contribution made by my wife, I have been advised to consider further political life. So, it is possible that I may run for some sort of political office. I do not know at this time what that may be. I suppose that I could run for the United States Congress, or Senate. However, that would likely be presumptous of me. So, I may consider running for the Colorado House or Representatives. I am telling my supporters that I do not want to run for Governor. Or, maybe, I should run for local office first. I simply have not decided. Anyway, I thought that I would share the good news with you. When I announced the election results to my 18 YO son, yesterday, I got the idea that he was less than impressed, and all in all thought that it was funny that I should have any kind of leadership position in the community. But, you know how 18year-olds are. They simply do not recognize the wisdom that exists in pareents, and the conventions of society. PS: I am not considering running for President, at this time. I have been advised that I should at the very least serve a term as local councilperson prior to announcing for such an office. After all, the President does need prior experience, I am told. We are a member state of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations).
