Here are my top scores. After that the scores drop off by over 10 points for all the rest. Interesting test.

I took the test, but don't agree with the results. The choices were not sufficient for my responses.

There are a number of spiritual gift tests out there. Some by SDA sources, some from other denominations. I find that the best way to assess what your gifts might be is to take several tests. That way, the questions are a little different, the response options are a little different, and you can assess whether or not you feel that test is accurate for who you are and where you are in your spiritual journey with Jesus.

Generally, the better variety of tests you use to assess where your gifts lie, the better your results will be.

I found this test interesting because included in my top 5 were two that have never appeared there before.

Also, the gap in weighting the dominance of the gifts listed, between my high scorers and my lower scoring gifts was dramatically wider than it has been in the past.

Maybe if I have time this weekend I'll go take the other gift tests that I've used to assess myself in the past and see if there has simply been some changes in the way Abba and Jesus are preparing me for the future, or if this test was simply not as accurate for the way I view my spiritual growth.

I agree with Chrys though, that the answers were totally insufficient in many cases, as were some of the questions. Some were not clearly defined enough; others (in my mind) required qualifiers. Several times I wished there was a choice that was less than "OFTEN" but more than "SELDOM". And quantification itself is questionable for any question that starts with, "I find great joy in ..." because you could find great joy in it "ALWAYS" even though you have only had the chance to DO it "SELDOM". dizzy.gif

This isn't the first time I've taken such a test, though ... and many of the top-tier results remain the same as other tests I've taken. Discernment has dropped (no surprise there) and Pastor has risen above Evangelist (interesting, and reflects experience gained in a different spiritual milieu), but Teaching is still up there, and That Which Must Not Be Named remains #1 ... tongue.gif

I'm scared!

I can't let my wife see this! She's always bugging me about going back to the island where she was a missionary. It was only a few miles across. I said to her I don't want to be anywhere where you can see the sea from opposite ends of the street!

Great spirits have always found violent opposition from mediocrities. The latter cannot understand it when a man does not thoughtlessly submit to hereditary prejudices but honestly and courageously uses his intelligence.

Well, as usual, "teacher" ends up at the top. I should have taken note when my college principal told me that I should take up teaching, but I guess, in a way, I have been involved with teaching various things (not school children!) all my life!

I agree though, I wish there had been more scope in the responses.

I believe Amelia is saying that she does not think ill of Nico (and I heartily agree with her in this sentiment).

However, as it reads:

  • "Some people think ill enough of me already"

    "I don't"

it appears to be saying that Amelia doesn't think ill enough of Nico!!!

English as a rotten language at times.

As Amelia implied, I am also thankful for Nico and her keenly insightful and brilliantly expressed thoughts in her posts.

We would be more than a little deprived without your contributions, Nico.

Yes definitely great to have Nico here.

And I am sharing my lowest scores! As I am musically barren, it really was no surprise (I enjoy listening but cannot utter or produce). Bit of a worry about the healing but the questions concentrated almost exclusively on emotional healing.

I also feel that it wasn't a particularly good spiritual gift analysis. I was happy with my top choice, and the few that came after it, but then that was me putting in what I thought I was good at -- it would be interesting to see the result if someone else filled it in for me!

Yes, it was concentrating almost exclusively on emotional healing, spiritual things, which raises the question, for the carpenter (for instance) are his skills part of his "spiritual gifts"? I think they are

In Exodus 31 God assured Moses (after full instructions regarding the making of the tabernacle and furnishings, that He (God) had called "by name Bezaleel the son of...and I have filled him with the spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship ...."

So here these practical gifts (spiritual gifts? -- given by the Holy Spirit) were in fact given by God.

So, Nan -- your healing gifts are indeed spiritual gifts -- for you -- TOP OF THE LIST!

God bless,

Beryl

Just as I thought...back in high school, I finished my eighth grade music exam and then I felt I had to make a choice between music and medicine...looks like I made the wrong choice! <img src="/ubbtreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

And just like Nan, "healing" came way, way down the bottom of the list, but I think it's because they were talking about healing as a miraculous act from God or a direct answer to prayer.

We "medicos" do certainly pray as part of our working life, but perhaps we apply ourselves a little differently - when faced with a sick person we work with our hands to apply the practical things we have learned, to help the person recover. I guess in this setting it would fall into the category of "serving" or even "craftsmanship".

The important thing for me is to remember that God is the source of all healing - whether He heals by a miraculous answer to prayer, or by giving a health care worker the skill and wisdom to do the right thing in a given situation.

Probably the tests are all wrong. The gifts are given to enable us do the tasks assigned to us. Not in order to decide our tasks. Natural tastes and abilities are all mixed up in these spiritual gifts theories so they really dont mean a thing.

Yes, Melvin, I agree. I have found myself doing things that I never thought I would be able to do -- and, naturally, I couldn't -- but when the situation has arisen, I know it was not some "gift" I had been given, but rather divine help AT THE TIME IT WAS NEEDED. I think that is the thing that really matters.
