Stan Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 STERLING, Mass. -- Two teenagers were killed and two others seriously injured when the car they were in struck a tree in Sterling late Friday morning, police said. Emergency responders who were first to the scene found one person outside of the vehicle with leg and head injuries and three others still inside. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Two others were transported to a Worcester hospital, where one _ believed to be the driver _ later died, according to Sterling police. The ages of those killed were 17 and 19, while the two surviving victims are 18, police said. No names were released. The preliminary investigation indicates that drugs and alcohol were not involved in the crash, but speed does appear to be a factor, police said. At least three of the victims are students at South Lancaster Academy, ]a private school run by the Seventh-day Adventist Church. A message left at the school Friday afternoon was not immediately returned.
