Am I Too Close To Christ?

Or am I too married? grin.gif

I grew up in Seattle until I was 16 and the Seahawks have always been my favorite team. Now they have a chance to make it to the Superbowl and, while I would like to see them do it, I can't even get excited about it.

Reminds me of the verse that says we will love what we hated, and hate that which we loved. (I'm having trouble finding that verse though, does anyone know off hand which verse that is?)

Maybe you've just discovered that there are more important things to get excited about.

Well, it seems they made it to the big show. 23_30_104.gif But I probally will not watch it. Maybe I'll watch the end if I keep an eye on the clock. I have numerous home improvement projects that are more important than a football game.

sorry.gif I've been waiting for this for 30 years. And yes, I'm excited. dancingman.gif

I think I'm going to have to burn my official Seahawk Baghead bag that I've been carting around for 25 years.

I have a friend who bought paper plates, napkins, and cups for the first time the 'Hawks made it to the Super Bowl... all in original Seahawk designs etc. They are unopened, but she is excitedly getting them out in preparedness for Feb. 5.

She's had them since 1976.

As I look around at all the excitement and enjoyment I and others are experiencing as something we've waited for so long is imminent, I am struck by how few have as much excitement in their lives about Jesus' soon return.

I am excited about the 'Hawks, enough that my kids, my husband, our friends, and even strangers have to smile when they hear me. I tend to be that way about Jesus' imminent return, too. And often get too excited and talk about it at "inappropriate" moments. But to me, it's never inappropriate.

It's certainly more important than a football game, but this particular game... well... I'm going to enjoy these moments and recognize that they're a once in a lifetime event.

That's really neat about the paper plates/cups/napkins Clio! We are quite excited here, too. We're not big football fans, but we did watch the game yesterday. I used to watch more often as a child/teen and it was fun to watch again. We'll probably watch the Superbowl. smile.gif

Hi Toni.

It's neat... we're going to watch the SuperBowl too. Might even have a few friends in... I think hubby is just getting a kick out of how excited I am.

He's a Dallas fan... has been all his life being from Texas. And all my life I've had to listen to him... and he freely admits, I've had to listen a lot. We were watching the game with some friends who were giving me a hard time, and he was so cute. He got right up in their faces and made them quit... nicely but firmly.

He told them that I had waited, and waited, and been courteous, never saying more than my favorite teams were the 'Hawks and any team playing Dallas.... and he wanted me to enjoy this to the fullest. If they wanted to tease someone, they needed to tease someone else.

That was so cool, because until I learned to walk under his authority as a 1 Peter 3:1-5 walk, he would have left me to fend for myself. I could have done so, but it was awfully nice to have him deal with it and just let me enjoy my game....

I was estatic in'88 or '89 when they won their division. I suppose I could get back into it but have so much else going on. I moved from Seattle to Minnesota when I was 16 and was very excited when the Twins won the World series the first time but it wasn't so exciting the second time. I guess time changes us or the novelty of things wears off.

Well, anyway, I hope they win. I don't even know if they are favored or not.
