Moderators Jeannieb43 Posted February 3, 2016 Moderators Posted February 3, 2016 I have recently relocated and am now living in a retirement community in Southern California. I am the only Adventist among 250 elderly residents. Whenever we residents visit each other, at the dining room or elsewhere on this campus, the question often arises: Where were you born? As soon as I reply "Loma Linda" the other person almost always counters with: "Then you must be an Adventist." I think Loma Linda equals Adventist in the minds of most Southern Californians. Of course I'm happy that they know this. Thus far I've had several interested persons here asking more about my faith. phkrause and Tom Wetmore 2 Quote Jeannie

...Change is inevitable; growth is optional....
Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted February 3, 2016 Members Posted February 3, 2016 my non-SDA relatives lived in Redlands, right next to Loma Linda... up through the mid-1980s the Adventists down there were referred to by non-SDAs as "cabbage heads"... lol.. hadn't thought of that in years. At least the moniker isn't used anymore (at least not regularly), as the attitudes changed regarding vegetarianism. Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. If we all sang the same note in the choir, there'd never be any harmony. Funny, isn't it, how we accept Grace for ourselves and demand justice for others?
