Sounds like the last chapters of Great Controversy

Much effort is put into unifying religions under one roof, a roof of thought contrary to biblical injunctions. The most unifying normal religious practice is the day of the week. It will take any person's personal loyalty to God Himself to allay the fears of those facing the threat of death if not acquiescing to false religious demands.

Most interesting article, Kevin. Only recently became aware of the word Dominionism.

I learned that word through the article. I've known the concept for years.

I very interesting article indeed. Its also interesting that Ted is married to a SDA, or at least someone that was brought up SDA!! I wonder what she thinks of all this as it plays out right in her midst??

From what I've read she still is a Seventh-day Adventist. I've been disappointed when listening to Ben Carson on how he sounds more like a general evangelical Christian rather than a Seventh-day Adventist. And that makes me wonder about Mrs. Cruz as well.

I read a book called "The Seven Mountain Mantle" several years ago by Johnny Enlow, pastor of the Daystar Church in Atlanta, Georgia.  I found it disturbing in the sense that Pastor Enlow was bringing what I consider to be millennial rulership into the present age  I realize now that this book totally espoused dominionism.  Although I agree that believers should seek to influence these seven mountains of civilization, I find it disturbing that some think we should dominate them.

Just from the quick description you gave it seems the book is about amillenialism which is not to the benefit to SDAs. Not sure if your are SDA or not Joemo but essentially amillenialism puts us in the millennium now and at the end of the millennium religious utopia reigns.

I agree wholeheartedly.  Yes; I am a "generic" SDA in that my name is on the books, I worship on the 7th day; and I look forward to the soon-coming of my Messiah.  Some consider me a "Badventist" because I don't wholeheartedly embrace Mrs. White as a Prophet (with a capital P); nor do I accept certain SDA cultural dogma - like universal application of the "day-for-year" principle, 1844, or the papacy as the antichrist (among other things).

Hmmmm...no..not a 'Badventist' or another type of Adventist, just an Adventist still searching and growing...its called dynamic christianity!

I agree with CoAspen, we are all still growing. Now I do wholeheartedly accept Mrs. White as a Prophet. Of course my understanding and use of her is based on not being a Fundamentalist and trying to follow how she and James and Willie said that we are to use her, unlike most Adventists who follow how Stephen Haskell says to use her, or the very conservative who follow how Washburn and Wilkinson say to use her. I believe in applying the year-day principle on verses where it fit the context and am sad that at times where it is given as a common term (for example "day" and "hour" in Revelation is just a term meaning a short time.) and some times when it gives specific days of a year-day prophecy so we end up doubling the year-day application. I'm a believer in 1844, and while I believe in the role that the papacy played in the middle ages is a type of what we will find in the end and that the Papacy will be in partnership with the end events, I don't see the Papacy as everything antichrist or that everything that comes from the Vatican as purely evil.

FYI, Heidi Cruz isn't an adventist, she is a baptist.

"While Heidi Cruz was raised in a Seventh-day Adventist household, she now identifies with the Baptist faith of her husband Ted Cruz. An earlier version of this article misidentified Heidi Cruz as an Adventist."

Interesting and scary article about dominionism, thanks for posting!

Thank you. I was wondering about this; I read two articles that said that she is still a Seventh-day Adventist. One written by an Adventist and one in a general information article about the Cruz family that mentioned him being Baptist and her being a Seventh-day Adventist, as well as a facebook comment with someone leaving a comment about knowing them from church. But of course we know that we can ALWAYS believe what we read in the news. I think that if she was a Seventh-day Adventist that Ted would be more moderate (but again I'd expect Brother Ben to be more moderate).

Perhaps this adds fuel to the fire, having just happened. When the world circumstances get serious enough it will appear safer to accept traditional avenues of religious requirements rather than biblical injunctions set in place from creation.

Bible translators slaughtered in Middle East

  • Four more Christians were tragically slaughtered by Islamic extremists in the Middle East early this week.

This time the target was the office of Wycliffe Associates, a Christian organization with locations throughout the globe whose main goal is to translate Bibles and conduct missionary work.

In a statement released by the organization, the charity organization announced that unnamed attackers stormed one of their offices, shooting everyone and everything they could, killing four and destroying much of their equipment.

“They shot and destroyed all the equipment in the office including the Print On Demand (POD) equipment. The invaders burned all the books and other translation materials in the office,” the statement read.

Two workers died of gunshot wounds, while two died protecting the lead translator. According to the group, the office leader was spared when “two other workers laid on top of the lead translator — saved his life — and died deflecting bludgeoning blows from the radicals’ spent weapons.”

Wycliffe Associates has promised to respond to the attacks by doubling their efforts.

“Pray for others to step up and take on the translation task,” the statement read. “Please ask the Lord to mend the hearts and wounds of the translation team who have gone through this horrible ordeal. Pray that God will strengthen their minds, their hearts, and their bodies to be able to continue the translation of the gospel for their people.”

The statement also asks for forgiveness for those who committed the terrible attack.
