Water

This evening I was studying the final lesson for this quarter on redemption and ran across Revelation 21:1-2 (part) [New English Translation]  "Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life—water as clear as crystal—pouring out from the throne of God and of the Lamb, 2 flowing down the middle of the city’s main street."  

Put this text next to some of the news stories lately - Flint and St. Louis struggling with elevated levels of lead in their water supplies and the Japanese trying to clean up the remains of a nuclear reaction gone bad and dumping some of the radioactive material into the ocean. The earth's water supplies are getting more and more polluted and impossible to use.

In contrast, note what the verse says about heaven - the water there would be absolutely pure - "clear as crystal". No pollution, no trash, no bad chemicals, no taint of sin or sinner, no one profiting from God's bounties.  Just absolutely pure water.  Another reason to long for heaven.
