"All Americans would do well to petition the President and the Congress to make a Federal law - an amendment to the Constitution if need be - to re-establish the Sabbath as a national Day of Rest" Catholic Twin Circle, August 25, 1985, Article "Sacking Sunday"

"In this matter my predecessor Pope Leo XIII...spoke of Sunday rest as a worker's right which the State must guarantee" Pope John Paul II - Dies Domini, May 31, 1998

Therefore...Christians will naturally strive to ensure that civil legislation respects their duty to keep Sunday holy. In any case, they are obliged in conscience to rest in a way which allows them to take part in the Eucharist, refraining from work and activities which are incompatible with the sanctification of the Lord's Day." Pope John Paul II, Dies Domini, May 31, 1998

"Although it is true that there was a period in the life of the Seventh Day Adventist Church when the denomination took a distinctly anti-Roman Catholic viewpoint, ...that attitude... has now been consigned to the historical trash heap so far as the Seventh-day Adventis church is concerned." Neal C. Wilson, former president of the Seventh-day Adventist General Conference, in a speech, 1974

Hi Clio,

These quotes are a bit disturbing, especially the last one. I realize that it is a few sentences out of an entire speech, and was this sound bite the real intent of Neal Wilson? By itself, it sounds like an attitude that I have never encountered. I would agree that hopefully we don't villify the membership, but still have an anti RC attitude re: their doctrines.

I wish I had the full speech. This was in my mother's papers, and much of it is missing.

So Clio,

With the posting of these quotes, what are you attempting to say?

Is the Catholic Church, in your view, attempting to restablish a sunday/sabbatj rest day?

Can you show active attempts to bring this about by the Catholic church?

In a separate post, can you show active attempts by the

protestant church?

As much as I would like to see this, I don't see much in the way of legislation or serious attempts to bring this about.....This is an honest inquiry, and an honest evaluation of the evidence...as it is, I don't think I see this sort of thing going on in the legislative halls...at least any serious attempt...

That's because the legal basis is already in place. It was put into place decades ago, where it has been sitting quietly waiting for the catalytic event.

I'll see what I can dig up. It's kind of a sideline to what I have going on spiritually right now, but I'll look.

This last generation before Christ's coming....would they have been ready during the 1800's? or the 1900's? What about 1200's? Apparently they were not....or were they?

What makes this principle a valuable piece of information for that last generation? Why is this being quoted as all Christians know that we are to be ready?

I am sorry if this comes accross as accusitory, because it is not intended that way...It is only the fustration of one person who see this little reply as one of those busy homework assignments that one already knows how to do...

Re: ** If one has read the instruction before, with the conclusion that its' repeat is unnecessary for themselves, that would not preclude others finding the instruction helpful in their experience.

The counsel seems to indicate that the lack of evidentiary circumstances outside of the Word is not a prerequisite for the reality that our ('they') lack of awareness is certain

to be an attribute of the general population at the time of Jesus' coming.

Not seen as accusatory, Only as a lack in seeing the Word as true and important to keep in mind, no matter what human importance is placed upon it.

Our sense of importance of its' usefulness will only be clearly seen when the actual events are going down.

[:"red"] "Now when these things begin to occur, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption (deliverance) is drawing near." [/] Luke 21:28 AMP
