From Sunday's 07 Sept. 2008 11:48:04 EST, Televised "Meet the Press" THE THEN Senator Obama was asked about his stance on the American Flag. General Bill Gann' USAF (ret.) asked Obama to explain WHY he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played. The General stated to Obama that according to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec. 171... During rendition of the national anthem, when the flag is displayed, all present (except those in uniform) are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart. Or, at the very least, "Stand and Face It". NOW GET THIS !! 'Senator Obama replied: "As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides". "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is a symbol of oppression.." "The anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all that sort of thing." (ARE YOU READY FOR THIS???) Obama continued: "The National Anthem should be 'swapped' for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like To Teach the World To Sing'. If that were our anthem, then, I might salute it. In my opinion, we should consider reinventing our National Anthem as well as 'redesign' our Flag to better offer our enemies hope and love. It's my intention, if elected, to disarm America to the level of acceptance to our Middle East Brethren. If we, as a Nation of warring people, conduct ourselves like the nations of Islam, where peace prevails - - - perhaps a state or period of mutual accord could exist between our governments ......" When I become President, I will seek a pact of agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity, and a freedom from disquieting oppressive thoughts. We as a Nation, have placed upon the nations of Islam, an unfair injustice which is WHY my wife disrespects the Flagand she and I have attended several flag burning ceremonies in the past". "Of course now, I have found myself about to become the President of the United States and I have put my hatred aside. If the above poster wants to be taken seriously on any subject, they need to do some fact checking and stop that knee jerking all over the place! This was so easy to check that my guess is that truth was not desired, just plain old trash talking!!

There was evidently some very good photo shopping carried on at the time as I watched the ceremony where the varied heads of government stood in the stance considered to be appropriately observing the normal patriotic stance of those loyal to the raising of the flag of the United States, contrary to the one intending to become commander in chief of the United States of America.

Maybe this will lend credence to the conclusions reached by the naysayers, of more recent attitudes.

Sorry I didn't meet your expectations. The answer is yes, I did read the Snope's article and chose to believe some one closer in time and patriotic integrity. I also listened to and watched the present commander in chief on a video, read and mock the Holy Bible, specifically Words of the Holy One and knew if a person chose to ignore the morality of the King of kings, he could not be trusted with any other needful behavior for negotiating necessary morality of lasting endurance.

Life, the essence of your above response is that to you the evidence does not matter to you.  You will base your belief on your emotional response rather than the evidence.

Well, it is true that the evidence of today may not always accurate and may be replaced in the future by new evidence.  But, evidence is important to many.  Without evidence to support your conclusions you are unlikely to convince those who want to see the evidence.  In addition, you will look foolish to many.

After reading the multitudinous headline statements of present day society that have been found false after thousands died as a result of following what was supposedly "the truth", it would be interesting to know "Snope"s basic bottom line motivator. In the final end, most of the world will go to their graves lost to eternity for believing what they were assured was truth.

I appreciate your willingness to allow me to have what is my Divine right. Not everyone is so gratuitous.
