Adventist on Alone survival series

Two weeks ago I read that an Adventist would be on the second season of the Alone survival series on the History channel, so I thought I might watch, to see if it is an interesting series. It started last Thursday.

The contestants are dropped off on Vancouver Island, apparently in winter, with only a backpack and five cameras. Last season's winner outlasted everyone else, and won after 57 days and 60 pounds lost. No camera crew is involved. They are ALONE!

I've lost the article, and I don't remember which one is the SDA. Do any of you know?

I just watched Alone for the first time a few days ago. I rather liked it, thinking there might be some good survival ideas. For those near the water, fishing might be the best way to find food. Wilderness survival in the winter might be more of a challenge for vegetarians.

I can't imagine the difficulties this group has signed onto! What horrible circumstances -- constant rain, cold, can't eat any shellfish because of red tide, bears, steep terrain. The rain makes starting and fueling a fire difficult. The contestants don't get a cent unless they win the $500,000, nothing per episode. I'd be with the man that quit the first day. Note to self: Do not go to Vancouver Island during the Time of Trouble.

the comments remind of the "senior survival" trips we had at academy... Spring Survival was required. But I also got talked into going on the Winter Survival where we spent 5 days on Mount Hood.  Worst five days EVER.  Snow, freezing rain — made the snow cave construction a bit arduous....the tea from the inner bark of the trees wasn't bad.  Really, the only good thing was that I lost about 12 lbs.

That's interesting, Aubrey, because I was wondering if it might be David McIntyre, who was a pastor and a missionary in Brazil for 15 years. Of course, Adventists aren't the only missionaries! Thanks for answering.

Speaking of the Time of Trouble, I believe God would not permit a softie like me to be relegated to a wilderness setting such as you describe here, during my own Time of Trouble.   I'd never make it out in the wild alone.   The Time of Trouble can be one of psychological stress; I believe that's what I'll have to face.   Otherwise I'd never survive a minute. 

Actually, I believe my own T of T has already happened.  Trusting in God throughout the experience brought me through.  However, I'm sure Satan has other tricks up his sleeve, so I'll not rest till Jesus comes in the clouds.

LynnDel, If you Google his name and the words "Alone" and "SDA" or "Adventist" and "Survival" you might get a hit on a Facebook page that talks about him. That's the only way I was sure it was him. I think the information I read was on the Brainerd SDA Church Facebook page. I am no longer a member of Facebook, so I can't seem to find the direct link. Good luck!

I think I recall Mike Lowe being active on another  Adventist Internet forum.  As I recall he was an interesting guy.
