Which music legend was buried with his red Gibson guitar?

Chuck Berry

CHUCK BERRY

Answer: Fittingly, for a man who revolutionized the use of the instrument, Chuck Berry was buried with his beloved cherry-red Gibson guitar, which was bolted to the inside lid of the coffin. The service began with a letter from former President Bill Clinton, read by Missouri Congressman Lacy Clay: “He is one of America’s greatest rock ‘n’ roll pioneers. He captivated audiences around the world. His music spoke to the hopes and dreams we all had in common”, the letter read in part. A guitar-shaped flower wreath was on display, a gift from The Rolling Stones, while a surprise eulogy was given by Gene Simmons.

RONALD MCDONALD

Answer: Speedee was the first McDonald's mascot before Ronald McDonald was created. McDonald's developed the Speedee character in 1948 as the mascot for the company's "Speedee Service System". Speedee was a character with a chef's hat on top of a hamburger shaped head. He was also the first company logo before the use of the Golden Arches design. Speedee was eventually replaced with Ronald McDonald by 1967. Once commonplace, only two McDonald's locations still have a Speedee sign outside the restaurant.

Wow, well I never heard or seen this mascot!!

MANFRED VVON RICHTHOFEN

Answer: Manfred von Richthofen, also known as the "Red Baron", was a fighter pilot with the German Air Force during World War I. He is considered the ace-of-aces of the war, being officially credited with 80 air combat victories before being killed in the skies in 1918. The Red Baron often took his Great Dane “Moritz” on flights with him during World War I. In fact, Moritz was his “partner in flight” during many of his most important victories and appears in almost all of the Baron’s wartime photographs. The Red Baron usually took Moritz with him on social occasions and it was not unusual for him to share a beer with Moritz.

WILLIAM HOWARD TAFT

Answer: It’s been more than a century since a U.S. president had facial hair. The last time facial hair graced the face of a U.S. president was March 4, 1913. This was the day William Howard Taft and his voluminous mustache were replaced by the clean-shaven Woodrow Wilson in the nation’s highest office. The American Mustache Institute suggests March 4th be known as “Taft Day” in remembrance. Abraham Lincoln started the trend in 1861, when he entered office as the first president with a beard or mustache—only sideburns had previously appeared in the White House. From 1861 to 1913, nine of eleven US presidents had facial hair.

What Famous Explorer First "Discovered" Puerto Rico?

That would be none other than Christopher Columbus himself. The man who sailed on the Niña, Pinta, and Santa Maria to America in 1492, only to find it inhabited by indigenous people, had the same thing happen to him a year later. In 1493, Columbus came across Puerto Rico—then called Borikén—and found it inhabited by the Taino people. Columbus spent just two days there before planting a Spanish flag and heading out forever.

How Much of the U.S. Supply of Rum Comes From Puerto Rico?

More than 70 percent of rum sold in the U.S. comes from the small island of Puerto Rico. It's the chief export of the island and has been made there for over 400 years. The Commonwealth remains the only rum producer in the world to maintain a minimum aging policy on their product. While big producers like Bacardi and Don Q sell three variations, if you want the really good stuff,  go with añejo—the Spanish word for "aged."

How Many Miles of Beach Does Puerto Rico Have?

No matter what kind of beach you're into, Puerto Rico has you covered somewhere along the 270 miles of shoreline that wraps around the island. Like to surf? Puerto Rico's got you. Want to chill at a resort with a piña colada in-hand? No problem. Looking for something bound to make your Instagram followers' jaws drop? They've got just the place. There's no shortage of beautiful spots to lay out in the sun, take a dip in the crystal-clear water, and get some much-needed R&R.

What Is a Coquí?

That's the tiny indigenous tree frog that's become an unofficial mascot of Puerto Rico. The term is actually a catch-all for a few different species of frogs that live only in Puerto Rico and are known for their loud mating calls heard at night. Locals love slipping into a slumber to the high-pitched chirps of these tiny frogs, but tourists often find themselves calling down to the hotel front desk for some ear plugs.

White Castle

WHITE CASTLE

Answer: Sliders are one of the hallmarks of American cuisine and it was originally used to describe the onion-steamed small burgers at White Castle restaurants. White Castle is widely credited as the country's first fast-food chain. Often referred to as "sliders", the burgers were initially priced at five cents. White Castle was granted a U.S. trademark on the spelling variant "slyder" which derived from the way the burgers slide out of their cardboard boxes. On January 14, 2014, Time labeled the White Castle slider the most influential burger of all time.

BENJAMIN FRANKLIN

Answer: The office of the Postmaster General, is older than both the United States Constitution and the United States Declaration of Independence. On this day in 1775, the U.S. postal system was established by the Second Continental Congress, with Benjamin Franklin as its first postmaster general. Franklin put in place the foundation for many aspects of today’s mail system. He made numerous improvements to the mail system, including setting up new, more efficient colonial routes and cutting delivery times in half. Franklin held the job until late in 1776, when he was sent to France as a diplomat.

NE

6 hours ago, dgrimm60 said:

NE

Answer: Modern two-letter abbreviated codes for the states and territories originated in October 1963, with the issuance of Publication 59: Abbreviations for Use with ZIP Code, three months after the Post Office introduced ZIP codes in July 1963. The purpose, rather than to standardize state abbreviations per se, was to make room in a line of no more than 23 characters for the city, the state, and the ZIP code. Since 1963, only one state abbreviation has changed. Originally Nebraska was "NB"; but, in November 1969, the Post Office changed it to "NE" to avoid confusion with New Brunswick in Canada.
