THEY KEYSSTONE STATE

Answer: The White House is located at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Pennsylvania’s essential role in the founding of the United States earned it the nickname, the “Keystone State.” The term “keystone” comes from architecture and refers to the central, wedge-shaped stone in an arch, which holds all the other stones in place. Geographically, Pennsylvania’s central location along the arch of the 13 original states calls to mind a keystone. During the early days of our nation, Pennsylvania also played a vital role in holding together the states in the newly formed Union.

ALABAMA

Answer: Montgomery is the capital city of the state of Alabama. The city is named after Richard Montgomery, a major general in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. General Montgomery led his troops in the Invasion of Canada and was killed in the 1775 Battle of Quebec. Cities named after him include Montgomery, Alabama, as well as Montgomery, Minnesota and Montgomery, Vermont. Two ships of the United States Navy have also been named after him. Although General Montgomery died in one of the first battles of the Revolutionary War, his legacy as a war hero lives on.

CLAVICLE

Answer: The collarbone, otherwise known as the clavicle, is the most commonly broken bone, thanks in large part to where it's positioned. The clavicle is the bone that runs across the front of the body from shoulder to shoulder. Due to its length and slenderness, as well as its prominent position, it breaks quite easily. Seniors usually break their collarbones from a hard fall. Younger adults, teens, and children are more likely to break their collarbone in a car accident or from playing sports. A broken collarbone takes about 6-8 weeks to heal in most adults, and 3 to 6 weeks in children.

Linen

Answer: Paper money isn’t actually paper at all. At 75% cotton and 25% linen, it’s essentially fabric, making it much more durable than actual paper would be. This is what gives United States currency its distinct look and feel. For denominations of $5 and above, security threads, and watermarks are already built into the paper when it is received. For the $100 note, a 6mm wide 3-D holographic blue security ribbon is woven into the paper. The Bureau of Engraving and Printing claims it would take 4,000 double folds (forwards and backwards) before a note will tear.

The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts’ annual humor award is named for whom?

Mark Twain

Answer: The Mark Twain Prize for American Humor is an award presented by the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts annually since 1998. Named after the 19th-century novelist Mark Twain, it is presented to individuals who have "had an impact on American society in ways similar to" Twain. The JFK Center chose Mark Twain due to his status as a controversial social commentator and his "uncompromising perspective of social injustice and personal folly." The event is a significant fundraiser to benefit the Kennedy Center.
