Members rudywoofs (Pam) Posted May 14, 2016 Members Posted May 14, 2016 I came across a Facebook extension where you can block any posts that contain any words you don't want in your newsfeed. http://www.fbpurity.com/ It really worked. I finally got rid of all the posts that are political!!! phkrause 1 Quote Pam Meddle Not In the Affairs of Dragons; for You Are Crunchy and Taste Good with Ketchup. Outta Here Posted May 17, 2016 Posted May 17, 2016 That's pretty cool. Might have helped me. I wish there were detctor filters for sarcasm, snark, racist, prejudice, and superiority complexes... Quote
Administrators Tom Wetmore Posted May 17, 2016 Administrators Posted May 17, 2016 I have also had good success in simply blocking certain single or narrowly focused POV sites and FB pages from appearing in my newsfeed. Since it doesn't block broad categories like all politics it requires a bit more vetting on my part. But I have seen a substantial reduction in my "friends" flooding my newsfeed with things that I have no interest in or that I find just plain irritating. It seems that some people get stuck on a particular site that reflects their hobby horse ideology or POV and saturate the newsfeed with copious links to articles and pictures from it. What it requires is that when someone links a site that I don't want to see again, clicking on the little pull down menu, usually at the upper right corner of that post. There should be a choice of "hide" options, including anything from that site. If that is not one of the choices that immediately shows, click the "more options" at the bottom and it should have have an option to not see anything from that site again.
