I have used Turbo tax these last several years, and find that I am still spending most of the day doing taxes.... No, you will have to buy the Turbotax for this year's tax preparation...There's a couple of different one' out there...Some Tubo's are more spendy, but they have one STATE return that you can do for free. Otherwise, you have to spend another $$$ for that state.... What bugs me is that when you e-file, you have to spend some more money....I would hope that there are from free sites available from the IRS that allows individuals to file for free.....Anyone have any info on this???? cricket Posted February 12, 2006 Author Posted February 12, 2006 There are free sites available from the IRS from which one can e-file. They are available to people with incomes less than $50,000. I imagine anyone who makes over 50 grand a year should be able to afford the $30 to e-file. Quote

We claim enough exemptions that we never get a refund - why loan the government our money for free? They would never do the same for us! Since we always have to pay, I'm in no hurry to get it to them! I will continue to do it on paper and mail it on my last grocery day before the deadline. cricket Posted February 18, 2006 Author Posted February 18, 2006 You're in luck! This year's tax deadline is extended to April 17. You'll have a few "extra" days to get your return in. By the way, this is the first year I've e-filed. Like you, I had no interest in ever e-filing. Then again, I never had any interest in the Internet, or cell phones, or pagers, or fax machines, or calculators... Quote

If they ever decide to require everyone to e-file, then they'd better make the software available for free! They're ripping us off enough already - MORE than enough!
