Opinion: Ideological Diversity Endangered on Modern College Campuses

Guest Opinion: College students are, for lack of a better word, being brainwashed. They are being fed the left-wing ideology, without the necessary diversity of opinion. These students then graduate, having internalized what they've been taught, as the absolute truth. You cannot debate them because they won't debate. They will express anger at opposing views and refuse to listen.

As a parent with two young adults currently in college, I can attest that not all colleges campuses squelch free thinking. I can also say with surety that not all college students are brainwashed. Many have learned a vast diversity of opinions before even entering college: from their parents, grandparents, older siblings, from their teachers, from their elders and peers, they have "internalized" discernment and power to form their own opinions.

The lack of respect for others and their differing opinions and life experiences is engulfing this country with intolerance and bullying. Encountering different mindsets can enrich our lives by challenging us to examine our own beliefs to see why we believe the way we do. Censorship and gestapo tactics only serve to limit understanding and promote the wearing of blinders and ear plugs, and thus, dumb down the perpetrators and participants.
