How Do You View a Crucified Christ?

Art, done right speaks to people.  It may even address people on the raw emotional level.  I have had this happen to me when I viewed that work of a SDA artist who presented a crucified, male, Christ in a matter that was raw.

But, how many of your have ever viewed a serious attempt to move beyond that androcentric assumptions of God that presented the crucified Christ as a  female?

I am reminded of three attempts to present such a figure:

1984, CHRISTA,  Edwina Sandys, Artist, 4 foot bronze statue.  For more information see Center for Women & Religion, 2400 Ridge Rd, Berkley CA, 94709.

1976, CRUCIFIED WOMAN, Almuth Lutkenhaus-Lackey, artist, University of Toronto, Victoria College and Emmanuel College.

1984, CHRISTINE ON THE CROSS, James M. Murphey, artist, 2 foot bronze statue.

On a personal basis, I find Christion to be very meaningful.

I do not know what you can find on the Internet about the above and others.

My source of information about the above comes from an article:

Bobbie Crawford, "a Female Crucifix?" that appeared in the following journal:

DAUGHTERS OF SARAH, November/December, 1988, Pages 24 - 27.
