Dr. Shane Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 It seems like the Democrat talking points these days are accusing the Bush Administration of being secretive. It is almost as if they forget how many times Ken Star had to take the Clinton Administration to the Supreme Court to get information he was requesting. I think what the press is upset about is that there is a lot more loyalty in the administration than previous ones and thus there are less leaks. Since there are less leaks, there are more secrets. Neil D Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 Quote: It seems like the Democrat talking points these days are accusing the Bush Administration of being secretive. Why is it that when Democrates point out the inequities of this administration, that the Neo-conservatives haul out the Clinton administration? It is nothing more than a straw arguement.... Every american has ideas about how goverment should be run...That means they each have thier own standard and need to justify the current adminstration from that standard that was elected into office. If the administration doesn't meet the standard, then an accountablity needs to happen... Sheesh, it's been what?...5 years and the neo-conservatives are still smarting from the Clinton adminstration....and still living in the past... Moderators Bravus Posted February 16, 2006 Moderators Posted February 16, 2006 To come at it from a slightly different angle, the secretiveness of this administration seems to be actually hurting it. Assume Cheney's shooting of Whittington was a complete accident - unfortunate but just one of the dangers of hunting. If that's the case, the decision not to release the news for a day is what has caused all the speculation about what else might have been going on. If they'd chosen to be open from the very first, they'd look a lot better right now. But it seems like secrecy and covering up had become a habit. Quote Truth is important

Dr. Shane Posted February 16, 2006 Author Posted February 16, 2006 Quote: If that's the case, the decision not to release the news for a day is what has caused all the speculation about what else might have been going on. Didn't this same administration wait a day to release the news they had captured Saddam Hussien? Waiting a day to release information really isn't a scandel. Now if they hadn't released it and it had been leaked out by a doctor or hospital employee there would be more reason to be suspecious. The Washington press corps is upset because they think the story should have been released to them - not some small-town, country, hick newspaper that no one had ever heard of. The Washington press corps has made the story about them. Now they are upset that the vice-president did an interview with FOXNews instead of Larry King or George Stephonopolus. Isn't it reasonable to believe that every administration wants to be secretive? Is that so hard to believe? Some are more successful than others at preventing leaks. This administration has had less leaks than others in recent history so it has more secrets. BTW: The company I worked for also built the Corpus Caller-Times facility.
