Norman Byers, N.D. Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Here's what I found Mark 16:16 "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned." I believe that the Apostles would have taken this as meaning them too especially since Jesus Himself was baptized to fulfill all righteousness. And Joh 1:40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. In order for Andrew and Peter to follow John the Baptist they would have had to have been baptized. That's what John was called to do. Stan Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 There is evidence that they had their feet washed by Jesus... Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
Stan Posted March 11, 2006 Author Posted March 11, 2006 I think it is on Maundy Thursday, Monks will randomly wash the feet of someone on the street. A few other Churches do this as well Quote If you receive benefit to being here please help out with expenses. https://www.paypal.me/clubadventist Administrator of a few websites like https://adventistdating.com
archierieus Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Well, then, some good evidence surfaces: 1) They were disciples of John, therefore would have been baptized by John; 2) Jesus went about preaching the gospel, and baptizing (his disciples baptized) (Jn. 4) If the disciples baptized, then they would need to be baptized themselves first. 3) Jesus, in washing their feet, said to Peter that he who has been washed need not but to wash his feet. The 'washing' would then be water baptism. 4) They were baptized with the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Therefore, they would need to have been baptized with water first. 5) John 3:3, 5 Dave Quote
