UN: Parents Do Violate Children’s Human Rights If They Take Them To Christian Worship Services

It is becoming increasingly frequent throughout the world that parents can no longer raise their children according to the dictates of their consciences, but must raise them according to the standards and stipulations set up by the federal government. This is not only unreasonable, but it is a downright violation of individuals’ right to privacy and freedom to think and act for themselves. The logical inquiry is “who do children really belong to?” The government seems to have claimed children as its property at the moment of birth, once they are assigned their social security number. Viewing them as such, the government then takes upon itself the right to dictate the type of education they receive, the vaccinations they must legally have, the medical treatment they must receive in the event of illness, the diet they must partake of, the discipline they should or should not be subjected to, and other measures or practices that rightfully should be the decisions of parents with absolutely no government input or intrusion.

Lets see; somewhere in the writting of the early SDA's you will find --"when they take our children away from us" or something of that sort;

and another will be when they take your bibles also

Interesting, but I really wish that Christians would stick to the facts rather than resorting to hyperbole of dubious veracity.

The article begins with the following statement: It is becoming increasingly frequent throughout the world that parents can no longer raise their children according to the dictates of their consciences, but must raise them according to the standards and stipulations set up by the [US] federal government.

I can assure you that nowhere outside of the USA do parents have to raise children "according to the standards and stipulations set up by the [US] federal government". The article's opening statement is flat-out wrong. The article then discusses the situation in the UK, wholly outside of the jurisdiction of the US federal government.

The government seems to have claimed children as its property at the moment of birth, once they are assigned their social security number.

All persons in the US are subject to US law, it has nothing to do with the social security number.

I have noticed that it has become increasingly common for right-wing commentators to rail against the federal order of government, and the "sovereign citizen" movement has fixated on the social security number, but it's sad to see SdAs stooping to such ridiculous rhetoric.

Seventh-day Adventists institutions would fall under the category of being government property because of their acceptance of government funds and their 501(c)(3) status

Another thoroughly incorrect statement. Just because a person or institution is subject to the laws of the land does not make that person or institution "property" of the state. 501(c)(3) organizations do not "belong" to the state - they do however have to comply with the rules set out therein.

The article hit most of the highlights of the "sovereign citizen" conspiracy theorists. (a) a swipe at the US federal government (with no comment on similar restrictions imposed by states; (b) a swipe at social security (even though it is irrelevant to the point being discussed); (c) the suggestion that we have become "property" of the federal government (d) the obligatory swipe at the UN.

... there have been recent instances where children have been removed from homes because they were supposedly being radicalized into extreme Christian practices by their parents. Others have lost or risked losing their children because of their children’s subsistence wholly upon a plant-based diet, while yet others have lost children and are being investigated because of the way in which they discipline their children. Others also have faced criminal charges for providing alternative treatments for illnesses rather than treating them with the conventional methods.

Yes, the state will investigate child abuse - whether it's parents getting sick pleasure out of beating children, or denying available healthcare to their children. Of course the authors of the article couldn't be bothered to cite any actual instance of such occurrences (likely because in 99% of these cases all reasonable Christians would agree that the parents' conduct was abuse).

I wonder what the following case is one of the instances the article's author is referring to.

There is plenty to be concerned about in the world today, but half truths, exaggeration, hyperbole, etc. undermine the credibility of anyone seeking to raise awareness on these issues.

God never said "Thou shalt not think".
