While Turkey's majority religion is Islam, Turkey has been a secular country since 1923 when Mustafa Kemal, the leader better known as Ataturk, founded Turkey from the ruins of the old Ottoman Empire. Erdogan may be moving the country back to an Islamic State - kind of like Iran - potentially resurrecting a real Islamic Caliphate (the Ottoman Empire). Then the deadly wound will be healed. Quote
Rossw Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 I wonder if there is a disconnect between a Muslim believing majority who support a secular government and the orthodoxy of the Muslim belief in a caliphate. Does the Muslim religion support such a disconnect. Something I'd be interested in looking into. Quote
JoeMo Posted July 19, 2016 Posted July 19, 2016 If one reads the Q'ran and Hadiths literally, they would see that ISIS is following a literal read of the Islamic scripture to destroy all infidels until Islam is the only religion left on earth. Most professing Muslims haven't actually read the Q'ran or Hadiths, just like many professing Christians haven't read the Bible. Look at the history of Turkey from the 15th century until the beginning of the 20th century. How many "infidels" did the Ottoman Empire (Turkey) slaughter? Millions. Islam is not just a religion. It is a form of government and a law unto itself (Sharia). If you look at the modern location of the eight nations mentioned in Ezekiel 38 (Gog, Meshech, Tubal, Persia, Cush, Put, Gomer, and Beth-togarmah), you will see that all but Persia and Cush are located in or adjacent to modern Turkey.
