What I find interesting as we head into this dismal election cycle is all the whining and complaining I've been seeing about the choices we have. For decades we as a nation have been asking our government to do more and more and we as individuals less and less. We vote for politicians who say they will feed the poor. That's our job. We vote for politicians who say they have compassion for the homeless and want to build them houses. That's our job. We vote for politicians who say they will provide healthcare for those less fortunate. Again, that's our job. We vote for politicians who will take money from those who have earned it so that it can be given to you for your family. That's YOUR job.

Hate to say it folks, but we have the government and the candidates we deserve. We created this because we allowed for decades the government to grow beyond its constitutional boundaries so that we could feel good about ourselves. Isn't it compassionate when we vote for candidates who promise the fruit of someone else's labor? No, it's not. Because giving them the power to do for someone else what you should be doing means they now have the power to do to you what you don't want them to do.

Look in the mirror ladies and gentlemen...we the people have done this to ourselves. You were right Benjamin, we had a republic, and it was up to us to hold onto it.
