Will this have any effect on the SDA church or its schools?

The report of the Assembly on Higher Education is an interesting one.  Briefly, it suggests a lack of clarity in the bill that may be problematic.

To speak to the question that Rossw asked:  No, it should not be expected to have any direct effect on SDA congregations.   It should not be expected to have any direct effect on a minority of SDA Schools and programs in SDA schools.  However, it potentially may effect the majority of SDA post-secondary schools and/or programs in those schools in ways that are not clear at this time.  If this is correct, it may be expected that clarity will be obtained by litigation and case law as the right to litigate is provided in the law.

In a reminder of the old days   in which the illegal "separate but equal" doctrine ruled, I find it of interest that the present bill allows discrimination in areas such as housing and restrooms as long as housing and restrooms are provided that do not discriminate and are assumed to be equal.  I assume that the equality of such will be litigated and that is can not be assumed that that this provision will remain. But, this is speculation on my part and may be without foundation.
